Trammel wasnt that bad. Pub 16 was prob the most fun I have ever had in any game.
UO Classic anyone?
The way they’ve made the last few xpacks, it feels like “Systems Design” is the only team they have anymore.
Systems design also included things like class design.
"Systems design specifically is everything that is not level, story, quest or encounter design. My team handles everything from classes to mechanics to items to trade skills to achievements to UI design, and that includes the game balance"
Ghostcrawler gave us excellent blogs where he tried to analyze what players actually enjoy about the game.
I feel like this sympathy has been lost. Now we’re stuck with crazy metrics like 80% of ranged going Night Fae and certain class+covenant combinations being completely useless.
Ghost Crawler didn’t oversee the game during a global pandemic so it is hard to compare.
Working with new hires remotely is hard. Working with existing team members remotely is hard. Writing and reviewing documents remotely is not. Speaking from experience.
They could at least publish some of the visions they have for the game. It feels like we’re just coasting from PC interview to PC interview, hoping they address the issues we continue to bring up.
Because ghostcrawler never oversaw the game.
People, seriously… read the thread before posting.
I didn’t play during the time of Ghostcrawler but I value honesty. That being said it doesn’t matter what his tendencies were. I would support Ghostcrawler.
Ion has lied. Even if it is only once. His words are meaningless as a result. I genuinely believe Ion wants what is best for Wow… His WoW. Not necessarily the WoW we want to play but the one he does.
With the period of Ion the RP elements and fun gimmicks have been trimmed away leaving a soulless gear grind. All WoW is now is a poor korean grinder and pran now.
Vanilla-Burning Crusade-Wrath of the Rich King = 3 great expansions/games.
Cataclysm-Mists of Pandaria-Warlords of Draenor = 1 good expansion.
Legion-Battle for Azeroth-Shadowlands = 2 good expansions (despite flying, breaking water striders and system upon systems)
Pretty easy to see the middle few expansions were the worst.
I would vote for a moss covered rock if we could get a LK-MOP class\game design back…
Heck how many times alone have I said that lol
Ghostcrawler, but not necessarily because of GC.
WoW has steadily changed over the years from what it started off as to where it is today, and that is predominantly away from my preferences of the game.
By the time Ion picked up the reins the game was already far past where I like the game to be. SL is actually a positive step for players like myself who prefer the older more original design philosophy.
I don’t know any of the devs
I will like whoever is kind and passionate and wants to make the game extremely fun for the most amount of people.
Ghostcrawler by far. Hopefully Ion’s time is almost over.
that counts Horde lovin Ion out that wont do anything for Alliance
Well at least Ghostcrawler regularly visited the forums and addressed folks most pressing concerns whether to our satifaction or not. Hev didn’t try to obfuscate issues.
^This guy.
Under Ghostcrawler hands down. He at least tried to make the game for everyone. Ion makes no effort to make it for anyone but for the instance players.
Ghostcrawler. Purely because his focus on communication.
I don’t think the game would be fundamentally different if Ion was in charge in the early 2010s and GC in the late 2010/early 2020s. I think people but too much emphasis on one person for the design of the game and not nearly enough on everyone else involved in making the game what it is, good or bad.
Tom Chilton, as bad as Cata was, WotLK and MoP more than made up for it in story/class fantasy respectively.
