For anyone who has got this lovely mount, I have a question, which Wowhead doesnt quite make clear.
I have managed to get the 3 easily obtained Runekeys, and have only a couple of the last two, the Thunderous and Torrential. I note that the Torrential Fragments drop from mobs at an apparently low rate, and that the Thunderous come from chests.
My questsions are:
are there any particular mobs from your experience that are more likely to the drop the Torrential Fragments, and;
is it a fact that the Thunderous ones can drop from the chests out in the water both inside and outside the Storm?
In regard to the latter, I must have gone around the island half a dozen times over the last few days both in and out of the Storm and haven’t had one drop, so I’m really hoping that can be clarified.
As others mentioned, the thunderous are in the invisible chests within the storm. Very easy to find, but only from those. They do not come out of the chests in the water.
The torrential take longer. The droprate is very low, and they drop from any mob within the storm with a slightly higher droprate from the rares and especially the floating kraken one, Zek’ul the Shipbreaker.
My partner and I ran up and down that beach killing EVERYTHING and looting shipbreaker every time he spawned until we had them. It took a long time.
But the torrential are the only ones that are like that.
I had max fishing plus a bunch on my weaverline, the blue hat, and Ghoulfish Delight. I almost immediately caught the Cyclonic fragment in the water, but never a Torrential.
You fish the cyclonic runekey in the water right next to where Zek’ul the Shipbreaker spawns. Shipbreaker drops Torrential fragments at a more satisfying droprate than other mobs. I even got 2 off of one kill on him. That said, it’s not a guarantee, and my partner and I farmed up and down that beach killing everything on a rare hunt between Shipbreaker spawns.
For the torrential fragments, I farmed the skeletons vrykull area near the area Grimgull spawns in the storm side. I did it in a group and the mobs were hyperspawning but it still took several hours since the drop rate is really low. If you do this method dont use crawler mines, for some reason it made things unlootable. But it might be fixed now.
I did laps to get mine. Go into the storm, kill things either near the beaches where the rares in the holes spawn or where the Vrykul and the skeletons spawn.
I think I also picked up one while killing everything in that instance where you find the initial ring. Killed the rares if they had spawned, killed everything in there, out to the exit, kill everything there.
I had only two to find when I got to that point, but that’s how I got my last two.
