Get Educated - Multi-Boxers Are Not Bots

That’s cuz we’re all in dungeons running 5 man teams cuz once you start multiboxing, you encounter so much toxicity from the playerbase that it’s just better to roll a 5er and go it alone.

I guess Rotsta can’t answer my questions. They must be too inconvenient for their position.

You’re just a troll. I rarely engage with trolls. Frosto at least tries to have rational dialog, even though we disagree.

This is different. Character boosts are simply pay to not have to play, which is a pay to win type thing, though arguably also not something that particularly matters.

I don’t multibox, because of the trade-offs being a hassle, and somewhat less enjoyable (for me). I suspect most people are in the same boat.

It isn’t as obvious to some as it seems to be to you. From my perspective, any advantage that multiboxing gives comes with a trade-off, which can be disadvantageous.

That is one of the disconnects, the definition of P2W. I don’t consider buying a boost in Retail P2W (although I never have). In fact, unless you already have multiple max level characters I’d define it as P2L (Pay to Lose) since you miss a significant part, and to me an enjoyable part, of the game, leveling. So I wouldn’t consider it an advantage but a disadvantage since you paid for the whole game but are only experiencing part of it.

Just a quick question for you, how do you define pay to win?

That’s a good question. Anyone engaged in the discussion of whether something is pay to win or not should really take some time to agree upon a definition of the term.

Here’s a definition from Urban Dictionary:

Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate and then makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying.

ref: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pay-to-win

Pay to win implies there is something you can only reasonable get by paying for it. That is not the case with level boosts nor is it the case with multi boxxing.

This is just an excuse.

It is, just not in a way you would think. Imagine two people starting off at the exact same time, but one buys a boost, the boosted person is at a way better advantage. Think of a game like clash of clans. A game that basically was made for pay to win. The reason its pay to win is because it saves time by completing buildings faster so you don’t have to wait, this is essentially the same thing as leveling, it saves you a ton of time and gets you further ahead.

That has never been the argument, and is only in the thread because of the strawmen that zyrius and his buddies have been crafting.

You said you don’t like when people can pay real money for an in-game advantage, and I asked you what about if that also comes with disadvantages as well - and that’s a “troll” I guess, so you have your nice little excuse not to engage in a conversation that might threaten your viewpoint.

No offense but I didn’t ask what someone else thought it meant, anyone can write these, I’m asking what you think it means.

None taken.

I think the quoted definition is a reasonable starting point for a discussion.

But that is the argument because people keep trying to claim multi boxxing gives someone an advantage.

Look, I play this game. I’ve played it since vanilla. I like to heal dungeons and I like to maximize my healing ability. I leveled this character holy without an alt to help me. It wasn’t until I got to 60 that I began to seriously level a second alt. It would have been a massive advantage to me if I just dual boxed to just help me farm cloth. This time around I leveled up my holy priest with a hunter a couple of levels higher to farm cloth for me. What ever the disadvantages it would have been easier to dual box the farming hunter with my holy priest.

I could come up with many more examples. For example just having a priest to toss a shield on my mage and an occasional heal would be a big help in the game. I can’t believe you really believe the disadvantages out weigh the advantages.

The advantages by far out weigh the disadvantages

I’d be curious as to why you chose not to, if you feel that to be the case.

I mean, I literally had 2 active accounts for the first few months of Classic. I both solo leveled and boxed, but of the 3 max-level characters I have, none were leveled while boxing.

Have you tried multiboxing?

Alright and I would suggest we look at this a little differently, not all games have ‘items’ not all games let you ‘build stuff at a faster rate’. Yet there are plenty of ways they could be ‘pay to win’. This is too specific. I believe it needs to be more broad. Such as, if you pay for an advantage in the game, it’s pay to win.

One thing might have been easier, but you would have faced other difficulties that may have had you seriously questioning if it’s worth the effort. Gather quests are painful enough on one character, try it them on 5.

Until the priest fell behind in levels and started getting instagibbed by mobs. Better go gather Zhevra Hooves on both characters!

He didn’t say that. Do try to avoid strawmanning, deary.
