yeah don’t you know that every single expansion has to be a completely different game with a different setting, different gameplay style, different art style, different progression mechanics.
otherwise it is “just more of the same” “re-hashed content” or whatever.
Nah, the guy probably left for his reasons. I just hope that whoever takes over moves WoW in an entire new direction, first, by adding something new to these expansions. The same add an island, do 8 new dungeons and 3 new raids and get borrowed power is getting old. I really liked that Dragon Flight zones were diverse. There was underground, lava, mountain, snow, rain… but it was overshadowed by the same 4 faction grind, same dungeon setup mythic++++++++++++++++++++++++++++, and same raid finder to mythic raid system.
I really liked the mandalorian. Not going to lie, it started off slow. The first episodes were like mando landed on planet, he had an objective, but the people needed his help, and in exchange the story progressed. It was like that, the same overlying theme for a few episodes, but then it got more exciting toward the end.
I had to stop on Andor. It was slower paced. Doesn’t mean it was bad, I just didn’t fully watch it.
Actually the original wow had about 40 people working for it. They put out a game that everyone was going to enjoy for the next 20 years. Blizzard has grown about 4-5x in the WoW department alone and have tons of new resources to work with. Yet, they can’t seem to put out anything that is awe inspiring like the original.
Mando 1 and 2 were peak. Looked like Disney had figured out some kind of middle ground where (most) folks seemed happy. Then they went full Disney and you never go full Disney. I liked the first few episodes of Andor, especially the look of that first plant/city they were on. It had a very old school Blade Runner cyberpunk noir feel, but it just dragged a little too much. I watched the whole thing but it was just paced a little off for me. Still. It’s um… masterpiece compared to what’s come recently.
Disney is a subscription model. Like some other companies that I know. They have to keep those MAUs up so they pump it out as fast as they can regardless of the quality.
The original team didn’t put out a game that people were going to enjoy for 20 years. For that to be true we would have to all be playing vanilla still and we are not
also need to take into account that when vanilla first released the MMO genre and the internet in general were still infants, you can’t really compare gaming and the internet now with gaming and the internet circa 2004
There have been a lot of changes and a lot of people adding their ideas to wow in that 20 years
we can agree on one thing though, Blizz has lost the touch across all their franchises
When they introduced the vehicle quests, vehicle pvp and dynamic zones in Lich King, that was new and progressive. Those things were kind of cool. Someone went all out on that stuff. That is the innovation that is gone. Its like they all go to work and say yes boss instead of jumping in with something new.
