Gen 1 Death Knight

I wanted to make a character close to Gen 1 Dks should I go with DK or Affliction Warlock?

G1 dks seem to be described as necromantic but the spells they use appear to be closer to the regular Warlock spells they used in life.

I RPed one wayyyyy back in Vanilla and went with an Undead Warlock. Personally the WC2 Units look more like they’re wearing cloth to me so I thought it worked pretty well.

But on the other hand their spells like Death Coil and Death and Decay are in the DK’s spellbook. So either works just fine. Really it’s just up to preference.

Undead Warlock seems the way to go.

If I were to go Death Knight has anyone got some gen transmog ideas?

I’m not expert on First Gen DKs, but they seem more like necromancers than what we’d know as DKs. Perhaps mounted necromancers, but necromancers nonetheless. So, I’d try for cloth-looking DK sets. Preferably something with a robe?

The most obvious to steal from is the Acherus initiate’s set, since it’s basically a hooded robe.

However, the Warmongering Gladiator’s Dreadplate set has a great helm that’s basically a hood. The shoulders give me good vibes for what you’re trying to create as well. Maybe mix some bits of that with the Archerus Initiate Robe? Or, some other plate robe? (Maybe LFR Tier 19 (Emerald Nightmare/Nighthold) Paladin?)

As for a weapon, you can probably find a staff-like polearm. However, you can’t really go wrong with Apocalpyse, especially the Abomination’s Hook secret appearance (if you care to farm it out).

For Lock I think some of the WoD sets would look pretty good. Your character would be an Orc ghost in a human corpse so stands to reason they’d prefer an Orcish aesthetic.
