Gem Question

I’ll wait until I see it. This isn’t Classic where we had raw % carrying older pieces of gear, and there are a lot of better stats available now than there were in Classic in terms of itemization.

Almost every seem will spit out whatever it needs to for you to hit the 142 Hit Rating cap. They prioritize getting your hit capped before everything else then disregard further hit for Agility, Crit, and AP.

Beastlord vs T4

  • -4 Agi
  • -41 Stam
  • -45 Int
  • -110 AP
  • -15 Hit Rating
  • -19 Crit Rating
  • +3 Red Gems
  • +600 ArmPen

You can swap the BL legs for the T4 legs to add 10 Agi, 5 Stam, 30 AP, and the 15 Hit Rating to wind up with:

  • +30 Agi (3 Red Gems + 10 from leg swap)
  • -36 Stam
  • -34 Int
  • -80 AP (+30 from leg swap)
  • -19 Crit Rating (somewhat offset by +30 Agi)
  • +600 ArmPen

The ArmPen just by itself easily outweighs the roughly 50 AP and ~6 crit rating difference in damage. T5 is only more damage once you have full 4p. Until then the extra stats just don’t compare to the straight damage increase of the ArmPen.

Armor Penetration is just so freakishly good, especially if you have the other ArPen pieces/trinkets.

So I don’t think they changed this, but isn’t each point of agility convert into 2 AP for Hunters?

It was one of the TBC balancing efforts to make agi/ap gear more standard across the classes. 1 Agi = 1 AP for hunters now. They did some compensation by increasing the dps values of ranged weapons and having hunter’s mark stack up to 440 AP. Overall AP is lower but with steady shot the dps is still way higher

Fire opals are dungeon drops that may or may not be in the initial patch.
Theres also the fact that they’re RNG as anything and can’t really be farmed.

Set bonus + core armor debuffs will get bosses damn close to 0 armor, with the exception of the more tanky ones. D3 set + debuffs will make kael have as much armor as a nudist.

Shame theres no negative armor pen in TBC like there was in wrath.

Idk it seems to be good even early.

To prove that the hunter dungeon set gives 600 ARP on basically a 100% uptime and it’s BIS until you get basically full t5.

If ARP was worth there would be no way that the blue dungeon set stomps t4 set for hunter but it does.

With standard raid debufs, 1200 arpen takes a 7700 boss (the beefiest of them) down to 1990 armor. On the lesser 5500 bosses they’re at 0. The mid tier armor bosses are sitting at less then 1k
