You can’t catch up right away. It will take you weeks with grueling dailies, assaults, raids,m+.
I suggest, gruel it out in doing m+ and hope to get lucky.
They based this whole game design on RNG. and if you get unlucky farm it out grueling.

Which takes time. The original poster has a rank 1 cloak; the limiting factor is not whether or not he can manage to level up his cloak in one run.
True, but at that point you might as well wait till you ooutgear and 1 shot mobs next expansion to upgrade it.
If it’s available.
OP should have had enough stuff for five vessels at the end of the cloak chain and the first four upgrades are only off main boss so carry clears aren’t really needed.
It’s when you’re going after pages and stuff.
You havent seen the last of catch up yet. Hold on to your shoes soon everything will be even easier!!
Keep leveling them alts. The only thing that matters.

I though you were saying you need to play 80 hrs a week to maintain a main.
- Completely ostrichsize yourself from your friends, family, and society.
- Buy the best gaming computer your money can buy.
- Buy a recliner with a built in toilet.
- Install mini fridge and microwave next to your “command center”.
- Abandon all hope as well as hygiene.
- Log into WoW and forget you are a living being and not an avatar.

I was just pointing out that even if it only took 5-10 hours to maintain a main, the 80 hour per week players would still have something to do.
What you mention is far short of keeping up, though.
What would you add to it?
FWIW it doesn’t require raiding or even M+ to do. Mine is fully leveled (though not quite at full resist) and I haven’t even stepped into LFR this patch, let alone normal or heroic. It’s all been via other sources of gear and solo visions.

It’s super easy to raise it though. I went from 11 to 15 in a day a few weeks back, then in about 2 more weeks I was able to boost my cloak to max resist with Echoes.

Are you planing on playing Shadow lands sir?
I mean it is basically an IL 520+ cloak if you account for the monstrous main stat proc. It honestly doesn’t take that much to get to at least 12 (where you get the proc) and is at least something to do if you are going to stay subbed.
Even without the mainstat proc (like if it gets turned off) it’s still 500 IL with 3 secondaries on it. It’s probably not getting replaced until like a max level dungeon.
Ultimately, this late in the expansion well geared is meaningless. We’ll start next xpac at level 50 with like 20k health and by level 55 the cloaks and necks will just inactivate. Edited to note that corruptions will be removed during pre-patch but neck and essences and cloak proc will still function.

Corruptions are being deleted in Prepatch. We might have a few weeks maybe a month or 2 till the prepatch. I would do something else unless you need that ilvl to maybe solo some stuff. But there are some mounts and toys to do if you still haven’t done the cloak so you way actually want to do it till you get the mailmuncher mount and the other Voiddrone mount.
As for gearing through random BG’s for “fun” is this still an option or am I stuck with Mythic raiding
