This is true, but I have seen dps defeat other dps 10 ilevels higher then them in pvp because they made better use of their CDS and had better combat awareness. Shoot for an ilevel of at least 660, get your enchants and that should put you in range to be able to handle most players on a gear level.
Its also important to note that people with higher level gear also probably know their class better lots of the time too since they usually have more experience.

That is exactly why people PvP in WoW. There is no real PvP it is GvG all the time.

I do miss the legion stat templates system. Since I’ve felt for a while the power should come more from the skill then gear within reason of course. But I don’t think there should be such power level disparities between people with different gear ilevels.

Make sure you are farming your conq gear, a 13 ilvl difference is huge. Not only will they be doing 1.01^13x as much damage than you, they will have 1.01^13x as much health and all secondary stats, so they will have more health and take less damage from your lower-damage spells you’re casting more slowly.
Pvp you really need the gear to compete.
Gear is basically equalized if you’re keeping up with the joneses.
Most of the time, experience and knowledge is what gives you the edge in pvp.

Someone who knows their class in Honor gear will always beat someone who doesn’t in full Conquest.
Not that you can get Conquest without knowing what you’re doing, anyway, as almost all ways to get Conquest requires you to win.
It’s easier to gear than it ever has been in PvP: Do one BG, win or lose, you can craft 2/3 Conq pieces tailor made and embellished to your liking. 2500 Conquest gives you free PvP weapons. War Mode gear can be gained in a few hours by doing the weekly and all the WQs for tokens.
It’s really not as bad as you’re selling, here.

You can easily get to 1950 in just honor gear, I did that on my priest last season in a single day.

Remember to add or subtract like 400 depending on when in the season you did it
This was late in the season as Disc Priest most of the groups and other healer were in mostly Conquest/Bloody Token gear.
Still I’ve done late 1800+ on other classes late into the season as a dps as well and gotten 1800 early in seasons before.
The 13 ilvls aren’t going to make much of a difference until you get past 1800.
Right but what I mean is MMR goes up by a certain amount each week, usually more than 400 per season, which is why skill capped used to offer a rating increase guarantee (that kept up with MMR inflation)
So when people say 1900 I don’t know if they’re thinking of what I think of as 1500 or 2300 because I don’t play at the same time as they do

Best way to farm Honor and Conquest until you have a full PvP set.
Also you can get Vicious Bloodstones from the crates which are like 6500g a pop right now.

Oh, and bloody tokens which are 10 ilev higher than honor and 3 lower than conquest. Good to fill in non tier slots until conq cap is lifted in a few weeks.

You can get caught up in PvP gear in a day with world pvp gear and grinding 2’s. Gearing in pvp right now is great.

Late season Solo Shuffle when someone tries to gear an alt and ends up being the lobby’s punching bag.
I mean i hit 1950 on 1/26/2025 as a Disc Priest in full honor gear in a single day. So I disagree with you on that.
