I see this differently. I see it as an income stream. Instead of letting that money go to 3rd parties, Blizzard will likely sell ilvl gear in store. It’s all headed that way anyways.
Idk I think selling high ilvl in store has been hyperbole that people have been taking seriously.
Catch up gear seems to be on the table though.
If catchup gear is on the table, everything is on the table. Not much of a slippery slope to go from selling gear to selling other gear.
I trust that they care about their own financial interests enough not to sell bis on the store.
I think that would be incredible. Achievements would have meaning again. When I see “AotC” earned and shown in guild chat or “Keystone Master: season X” I just assume they bought a carry. Thats how badly this game has degraded over the last 10 years.
.
Raid leaders asking for a link to your “AotC” … I assume they are incompetent idiots… because who knows if someone earned it and knows the fights or bought WoW tokens and were carried while they laid AFK dead on the floor while they watched Netflix.
Retail and SoD aren’t the same team, but they clearly said SoD banning GDKPS and basically sales run is a test. So we will have to see what happens with it. It could probably affect classic cata going forward if it works in SoD.
I don’t see it happening on retail unless some changes at the top leadership are done. For many years integrity of the game hasn’t really been a concern.
Gotta remember some high notes with being able to sell/buy corrupted gear for millions.
And this wasn’t done to fight RMT as much as people might think. It’s because the pug experience went too far into the GDKPs direction and made content worse. The same that is kinda happening with many people nowadays selling/buying loot in pugs… so it could happen in the long term.
no they wont ban carries in retail. The point is to curb bots. A large part of the demand for gold purchased with RMT is GDKPs. this change will make it less enticing to engage in that market, reducing the number of bots to better fit the actual market.
a lot of people hate GDKPs as well, myself included. its a free way to combat bots and an easy PR win. its nothing more than that.
