Gathering professions should be baseline

Thing is, nodes are already a dime a dozen with others really playing that gathering game so to speak or having a few that they multibox I guess or what have you.

I think the fantasy of it, shouldn’t restrict you from gathering.

The prices are already garbo and you’d still need to rely on more stock if you want to craft unless you get really good with gathering.

At this point it doesn’t take anything away but only adds to the overall ‘fantasy’ feel of the ‘world’ you play in if you like gathering some stuff for yourself but have say, two crafting professions going.

Figuratively speaking, if I am a crafter in this magical world, and I say ‘‘well shoot, I need a few more flowers that are right there’’ nope, gotta go to the AH or swap out a profession that I’ve already took time into leveling… or have an alt? that feels odd in that setting.

I donno, just my own thought process. Others who have played this game since classic are probably set in their ways and just are used to how it is.

In what world is it worth the click to begin with? Even if it’s 20 gold and you get five of them in a node, that’s one US cent. And so what? People don’t have to log into alts anymore to herb, that’s going to drop it below this threshold? Why? What proof do you have for this claim?

That is because crafting is pointless now. Next expac its different

That might be true for shadowlands but dragonflight has changed professions they are actual progression system in dragonflight. You have no way of knowing it will likely be far more expense in df. Professions have been useless for some time they are changing it so its viable expansion wide rather than the first month…
Making gathering professions basekine only increases stuff to do in the world. Its a no brainer new worlds gayhering works thst way and its one of the best in online mmorpgs.

All the more better. Regionwide commodities make gathering really pointless to some extent as prices will be low with the odd whale trying to reset. So I don’t think ‘‘because crafting is pointless now. Next expac its different’’ really says much to counter my point.

So what are you assuming next expac it will be the same? Even with a updated a changed crafting system that is now its own progression system? Yea i completely disagree with your assumption i think it will be improved. Im expecting huge herb and ore costs for the first month.

Have you even seen the new professions or are you just completely guessing?

That somehow magically gathering material is going to be some higher priced item? Give me a break. Sure in the beginning but once the rest catch up and people get the hang of stuff, it’ll be back to a low priced profession.

There is MUCH more COMPETITION.

I have.

Like all expansion starts.

I AM NOT talking about improvements. I’m talking about why I agree gathering professions should be baseline and not additional ones you choose in place of the two you have to fill.

That won’t change though so all this chatter is merely spitballing opinions and such.

What is the point of a forum without feedback. Lol the whole point of this place is for discussion and opinions. It might c9me in next xpac if people support the idea

this was one of the BIG things i loved about rift… and blizzard should love the idea as well- you can buy profession books in the real money store to gain the ability to train another. my main on rift had 8 or 9 professions; it was beautimus!

Not with this dev team. That’ll be several expansions later lol

To what? There needs to be an open dialogue to get feed back on… what I saw for now is them already set in what they want to do.

I never said STOP DISCUSSING THIS.

I personally want gathering professions as baseline ontop of the two you get to choose from the crafting ones.

They do seem to be better though. Far better than legion, bfa or shadoands in terms of listening to players. All the rip cord pulling on flying, legendaries in legion, thousands of things in bfa, covernants. That was truly awful…

I think with df it seems they are more open to accepting community requests.

Since going there own way didnt really work out…

I’ll believe it when I see it ~ developers in general can be pretty hard headed and too set in their ways. Some big changes in DF are happening 'cause of the continual failures so I’ll stick to what I said 'till they show otherwise.

They are still, as it stands, pretty slow to implement something
