I’m just suggesting that they be more upfront about it. Though Ion did say that the playerbase isn’t skilled in recent interviews.
And that’s why we all pay $15 a month to Blizzard. To work our way to the top, just like we’ve been doing all day at our RL jobs. The guys who are logging in to play for a while and make a little progress on their virtual character should sit down and shut up so that the professionals can get on with their workday without distractions.
Do you think anybody who enjoys playing this game competitively is having fun right now?
The game sucking has nothing to do with “competitive” players. This expansion was designed to be detrimental to min/maxers. That’s the whole theme of “MEANINGFUL CHOCIE HUEHUE.” Don’t blame them.
Y’all always do this lmao.
Named a Troll by C.S. 100 points.
How far you push is up to you. The entire reason for this game’s existence is to create an environment where you pay to grind the same content over and over again. If it feels like work, it’s time to stop. It should be enjoyable.
Wouldn’t have expected a thread on these forums to be so in favour of paid dungeon runs.
wait wait, will you make an exception for past forum wives?
It’s not that I’ve ever paid for dungeon runs, but I think that players should be free to pursue the type of gameplay that they prefer. If a player enjoys boosting other players for cash, I think they should knock themselves out. If a player hates leveling so much that they’re willing to transfer mass quantities of gold from their max level main to get their alt boosted, they should be free to do that, too. I’m sure that there are plenty of bots exploiting this, but there are also many legitimate players who benefit. The solution is really to make the low level stuff fun enough that players don’t want to boost through it, not to simply ban boosting and force players into content that they don’t want. The fact that Blizzard is so quick to cut off alternate means of progression is the reason this game no longer holds mass appeal.
So I think what we should do is start a ForumIO.
Someone write a web app that scrapes the forum. collect users and post summaries in a database then write some smart query that looks for certain things.
Start everyone at a high score - let’s say, 10k… and deduct points if a flag is triggered. your ForumIO cannot go up, it can only go down.
Whine about raiderio? -5
complain about elitists? -1
Declare some other MMO the new wow killer? -10
Call for the removal of LFR? -10
Ask for an employee to get fired? -5
Post a Bellular video? -25
etc.
when your ForumIO hits 0, your account is suspended from posting forever.
I’m way, way too lazy to create this, so someone else get crackin’
Translation:
Hello?
Whine about casuals ruining your game? -25
There is?
Odd how my alts don’t have issues getting in M+ sub 10.
no, only for current ones
by the way, do you wanna get married again
Eh, with BeautifulSoup, scraping the forums for these things wouldn’t be hard.
But developing a machine learning algorithm that can recognize whether these things are worthy of point loss is beyond me. Maybe with Tensorflow after building an initial data set.
Feels like a lot of work.
that’s why I threw the idea out for someone who isn’t me to develop ![]()
heyyyyyy yea lets go
Actually no, i play with everything hidden on that character. Its the whole point.
I do play with friends though and one of them came up with the idea. Whole purpose of these character is to play on roles we’re unfamiliar with and join a new player friendly guild incognito on Ally and help them to achieve AoTC in 9.1.
So no help from mains in any way (besides game knowledge).
It would be nearly impossible to pug anything above a 10 without Raider IO. I don’t think it is a perfect system and I don’t know enough details on Blizzard’s system to evaluate it, but it is necessary for higher keys. The problem with a system like the proving grounds is that it only shows that you know how to play your class, it doesn’t show that you know what casts need to be interrupted and which can be ignored (to be fair, RIO doesn’t necessarily show this either, but it is a more reliable indicator).
On a lighter note, I actually like that Blizzard is incentivizing people to do more affixes by incorporating it into their score. It’s probably too aggressive right now with the requirements for KSM, but it’s a good idea. It could also help DPS characters with getting KSM since you won’t be so reliant on the keystone roulette when you try to push your own key.
I like how every thing you comment is specifically things you personally disagree with. How about:
Complain about people not liking raiderio? -15
Complain about people complaining about elitists? -10
Complain about people wanting solo content? -5
Complain about people wanting to discuss other MMOs? -5
Complain about casuals wanting casual content? -10
Whine about casual players just being ‘lazy’, ‘not willing to get good’, or ‘bad at the game’? -50
^ This is a person who would get banned day 1.
lol obvs it wasn’t an idea i spent more than 2 minutes thinking about. But hey, if you want to develop the ForumIO site, you get to add whatever you want to the list.
fwiw, I threw in “ask to get rid of LFR” even though I couldn’t care less about LFR.
It will result in reduced participation in that group, as it will be easier for everybody to decline someone with a low score. And it will make it harder for players on the learning curve to create their own groups, as their score will be visible.
