Gaming laptop under $700

I cant relate to this though. Im looking for a 6900xt and i refuse to pay more than 1300 bucks for it.

For $700 he ain’t getting a good deal. Maybe for WoW but for other games…bad.

Sad to say don’t do it unless you have very low expectations. With the pandemic tax still in effect, even the markdowns on last year’s inventories aren’t enough to get a decent gaming laptop at that price.

I usually don’t post in these sort of threads but I had to come in with a quick recommendation which I have had really good success with. It’s the ASUS ZenBook 15 (Core i7) with a GTX 1500 and 16GB RAM.

I think at the time I got it on Amazon for about $900, but your luck may vary. Not only can it run WoW at around Mid to High settings but it is also slim which is something super important for a gamer on the go like me.

Good luck!

You will need to upgrade RAM right away. 32 is perfect IMO. Make sure the PC allows it.

I’m playing on and hp envy 360 from 3 years ago. If you don’t mind a terrible touchpad and video settings at 1 or 2 (sounds like a plane taking off in epic BGs) you can come in under 600.

(No I don’t recommend doing this to yourself)

you could try one of those portable PC handhelds that are starting to gain in popularity. many of them are around the $700 price tag, and can run games like gta5 and forza. just don’t expect cyberpunk 2077 or the crysis remaster.

I forgot which one I got, it was like $750 though and mostly junk but it kept me in the game until I got a new computer

Prices on PCs is skyrocketing. My old Dell (yes, I know, shut up) is on the fritz and I’ve been keeping an eye out. Prices just in the past month on desktops has gone waaaaaay up. LinusTech did a good video on why this week. The short version: 1, because freaking data miners and crypto currency blah blah blah. Jerks. 2, because companies last year grossly underestimated how many chips they’d need this year and now there’s a shortage. Also, see 1. Jerks.

Not to sure about the acer nitro laptop but i just got the desktop (acer nitro 50) and i run on 10 at 1080p with over 60fps, you can buy it off of acer . com for $799

I’ve done raid finder on my GTX 960 and it dips into the 40s on 1080p good settings when all 25 people are going. Would probably want low for high fps raiding, but to me it is still quite acceptable. I typically play on a GTX 1660 ti and that provides a consistent 70 fps experience on high settings, but when I go use my GTX 960 system I am not offended at all, so my personal opinion a GTX 1650 system is very WoW ready since it is 20% or so stronger than that.

If you have a Costco membership you can usually snag a great deal on gaming laptops. Right now they have a sweet MSi gaming laptop on sale for like $1099… I know that is above your budget, but it’s a pretty stout machine. I believe it’s running a 8gb RTX 2070 GPU and 16gb of ram.

actually false. getting one that supports gaming for under 700 is actually extremely easy just due to the fact that laptops do not require the resolutions that desktops do. Modern GPUs for Desktop require the power that they need is because you are playing them at higher resolutions.

Edit: Prices are inflated because of the GPU market and should normalize but if you are willing to buy anything in the 700 range you are good for right now.

It all comes down to what graphic settings you’re willing to sacrifice.

If you want 60FPS, you will have to lower/disable stuff like shadows, bloom, motion blur, Anti-Aliasing, etc… and keep you resolution under 4K. Possibly under 1080p.

I have a laptop with a i7-9750H and a GTX 1650 MaxQ 4GB and I have to drop the detail settings to maintain 60FPS at 1080p. For World or Warcraft anyway.

  • I have to turn off or reduce shadows and AA in most of my games to maintain 60FPS at 1080p for most games.

Many laptops also tend to have lousy heat dissipation, so your CPU will probably hit threshold and throttle a lot, causing performance drops. I use Throttlestop to undervolt and alter limits to keep the laptop at a steadier temp while gaming as well, to prevent throttling.

700 dollars???
uh…yeah there are some secondhand (or thirdhand) ones but only if you are fine with raiding on 30 FPS at lowest graphic.

Get a regular laptop with a Thunderbolt port and an external graphics enclosure

…is what I would recommend if you could actually find a graphics card to install in it.

I’m gaming with a laptop doubles your budget, and I can barely handle the fans noise… I can imagine $700 will be playing low-setting graphic and still have serious fan noise. Idk, just doesn’t sound worth it to me.

If I were you I would either buy the best tier laptop or don’t buy at all.

There’s an Acer Nitro with a GTX 1650 card in it for about $720. 8 gig ram and 256g drive on the BestBuy site. NewEgg has a low end Lenovo for about $730…hic!

If you want to be cheap get an all in one computer but tbh any desktop will work.

You can get a pre-built desktop for a good amount with a current gen card for less than $1,000. Im one of those players that prefers to play on a desktop rather than a laptop. I’ve got a monster of a desktop and laugh at the Alienware crap that is out. You don’t “need” a monster to play this game though. A good midrange priced PC will go along way and put you way above the system recommendations. Stay away from the hype. Those super pc’s will not make a damn bit of difference as far as enjoying the game.
