You heard very wrong.
The game is 17 years old. The population is going to spike and time in large swings until the servers shut down.

Yes you are.
Do you really want the WoW team split between multiple dead MMOs as well as WoW?
Thatâs one of the worst ideas Iâve seen on the forums in a long time. Like, impressively bad.
With increasing libraries, you expect increasing income, which would lead to increasing the staff. You donât spread the team out, you expand the team as you expand the work. Literally the only way to keep the status quo.
Itâs⌠itâs a joke. Gamigo is terrible.
That said, at least they would monetize things directly to the whales instead of making an end-run around it with game time tokens and using carry streamers to realize the profits.
Where did I say the WoW team would be split?
I never said that. I said they should buy those MMOs, that clearly implies having teams for each of those games. Theyâd be able to learn from each other since theyâre in the same building and working for the same company.
Jagex would be a much better company to buy wow. Their customer service is top notch, bots donât even exist in osrs, and mournings end part 2 is the best quest ever made.
Yes. Terrible. Lol
Where do you think those teams would initially come from while they hire whole new teams to work on these games? They just donât appear out of thin air ready to go.
They would start with gutting the wow team while the hire people. Unless you want them to spend millions of dollars on IP and then sit on it for years while they get new teams into place.
Please, donât ever try to run a business.
Blizzard has thousands of employees, do you really think they all work on World of Warcraft? No, they donât. Theyâre working on upcoming titles and new titles that we havenât even heard of yet. If you think they couldnât muster up a lead dev, out of those thousands, and then hire others I donât know what to tell you.
all they do is repack game items for battle pass seasons with there dead games they buy
its like hell for mmo wales they dont even like it
Honestly if I had the money to buy WoW I would and then shut the whole thing down after posting all the code and assets on a git site with an open source license. Then Iâd hit up a barâŚhic!
No they should not (but I know the thread must be made in jest âŚ)
I worked as a GameSage for Grand Fantasia for a few months after spending nearly 9 years playing the game and being knowledgeable and well loved.
Used to be a nerd at the game;
(Still one of the fastest clears youâll see by a Templar for Black Flame Ruins)
Gamigo purchased AeriaGames and killed the forums (which had literally thousands of help articles and itâs own community) - the new forums they introduced never took off and have been dead for three years. I did all the testing for Linux for Grand Fantasia and was the winedb maintainer for the better part of 6 years. I wrote 4 of the guides on how to get it working. All those threads, gone.
Our team have all gone different ways. GSALice and Ghost still play. GSMika has gone on to become a CM, GSReserve became a twitch streamer zone her own stuff.
I put more hours into that game than I have WoW by a huge margin.
It is a telltale sign when the last two pages of the news section are exclusively just âspender promotionsâ. No events, no new patch notes, no community engagement notes.
Grand Fantasia at the core, is an amazing and fun game and at itâs peak had gameplay that IMO would probably beat WoW. Right now itâs basically a game waiting to be buried.
Blizzard isnât going to sell their most profitable intellectual property. WOW is still their highest income generator.
They bought Trion and havenât done a thing with Rift. Probably a good thing. If they paid attention, they might shut it down. Poor Rift.
Itâs gonna get worse Rhielle. It hurts to see a game I worked on so much due.
They stripped the staff down to a skeleton crew and maximized the monetization in the game and began to play the long game and wait for its playerbase to dwindle enough to cut it off completely.
So heartbreaking. Had Trion just focused, it couldâve been a great game. But they got so distracted with other projects that they failed with end game.
No company can âbuy WoWâ
No company can âbuy Blizzardâ
What they can do is get controlling stocks in Activision-Blizzard but even then under that stock umbrella (and be prepared to pay min 20+ billion to buy that controlling stocks) Blizzard is an independent studio under the stock charter.
Itâs F2P garbage though.
I swear a lot of you wouldnât know a good game if it slapped you in the face and yelled âI am good game!â
