you’re basically asking them to price-fix the tokens. i don’t think they can legally do this, but they don’t need to anyway.
the price of the tokens goes up and down based on demand. more people are buying the tokens than there are people selling them, so the price goes up. when more people start selling them for gold the price will go down.
Wow, that must have been terrifying. I’m claustrophobic and occasionally, when it gets hot, it feels like I’m trapped in a coffin and I start to freak out.
I couldn’t imagine how bad it would be to be conscious with all those tubes and stuff while being restrained.
The token price went up to like 230k near the end of legion. As soon as they removed the big gold missions from the class hall the price tanked. I think it was under 100k at the start of BFA.
They say there’s a set of constants that determine the price of a Token depending on availability/demand. I wouldn’t dare suggest they play with those values at times (/cough/cough), but the major factors are the same as any commodity market. All prices are the same for everyone, at a given time, depending on the current state of the market. There are no discount pork bellies on the exchange. Use the right model and it makes sense.
The current system is fine, it is designed to tokens sell in about a day. With the value being based upon the demand and supply for tokens. The only reason it has jumped up recently is Classic, it was like 100k most of BFA. Give it some time and the price will come down once again.
It was truly terrifying and wouldn’t wish it on anyone that’s for sure.
No other items on the AH cost real money so…
You got people not interested in retail logging in and dumping all theor gold on tokens to play classic, with minimal intention of returning to retail.
So the price is skyrocketing…will come down eventually
Of course it will, it always does. But the price staying universal prevents people from getting ripped off.

Token costs $20. That price never changes. The gold you get fluctuates.
You can’t buy a token for gold in Classic. Too bad >_<…I have to pick and choose my spell upgrades and profession recipes and I Hate doing that.

You weren’t around in 7.3 were you? IT got around 220k without issue. Token price doesn’t really hurt anyone.

If it managed to do just fine before you paid attention, maybe your opinion isn’t really necessary? The higher the price the more us that buy them get so more for our money.
To be honest with you, I think it’s better overall. When they dropped so low this expansion I looked at the illegal sites and what gold was selling for, fact was you could get more bang for your buck through them rather than going through the legitimate service. I did not buy any, nor do I encourage anyone to buy any it is clearly against the ToS, however, they added these to curb those gold sellers.
This token price spike is going to be around for a while IMO. With Blizzcon around the corner and Classic subs completing their first month, the price will stay high.
For everyone saying tokens are too expensive, put it this way. Tokens are always the exact same price, $20. At the beginning of Legion, end of Legion, today, the price has never changed. The amount of GOLD varies, but here’s the best part: the one selling the gold gets to decide if its the right price or not. That’s the power. If you don’t want to fork over 180k gold for your $15/month, that’s fine, someone else will.
Tokens will NEVER be 20k again.
On a side note, AH on my server is doing fine. Made 700k last week ,800k the week before. YMMV.
I still have over a million from Warlords. I spend, I gain, it’s been steady. Of course I’m not buying the stupid-expensive frog and giant dino mounts so there’s that.
No real reason to buy gold tokens for me.
