Game time + Que = free $$$$

just come play on westfall. I’ll be happy to wave at you.

IB4: BUT MAH PING

I don’t wish to play with a community that doesn’t match my time zone. Not many of Arugal do. It’s why we play on OCE realms in the first place.

Thanks for the offer though, I would wave back otherwise.

*eyes Remulos and Yojamba * Medium and High respectively. I understand that you guys hate Yojamba or whatever but they can’t all be that bad, at least they aren’t flooding the forums.

We’ve been over this before. Remulos is PVE and is a one way ticket. You can’t transfer back from PVE to PVP.

Yojamba is at high capacity. If any noticable number of players from Arugal queues would transfer there, Yojamba would now have queues.

And yes, I’d suspect you’d start seeing Yojamba creating threads in response.

I don’t believe that would be the case. It appears that the majority of people playing on Arugal are adverse to moving, yourself included. As long as it stays below ~1500 then it would probably be fine.

In any case, give it time - people will abandon server, quit, or move. Perhaps blizzard will cave and give you your precious layers and locked status back. They don’t move that quickly though and it’s only Monday. By the end of the week I’m sure they will have an answer, either way.

Yojamba US OceanicPvP 6922

Arugal US OceanicPvP 9096

We don’t wish to give it time. Our gates are now open. This is horribly impacting our guilds who have prepared for just this moment. Months of recruiting to make our best possible raids now are being pressured to dissolve.

Welcome to the real world.

They make no more or less money based on your play time. In game or in queue is the same cost on their resources. They have no incentive to make people sit in a queue aside from whatever ideals or beliefs they have in regard to layers.

If any significant quantity of players xfer to yojamba, they will have queues as well.

Felstriker has under 100 active players over the last 2 weeks, that realm is dead and beyond saving.

Not true. We’re not huge but that has its own benefits and downfalls.

Partially true. Our OCE to OCE options are limited, but we can go to the US. Personally I’d prefer to stay where I am, but if I had too I could suck up the US latency.

if it was under 1500 then the queue would be less than 30mins, I guarantee.

Nah, it rarely works like that because what happens is the second even the smallest queue appears, players start going to extreme lengths to stay online and the queue begins piling up and not moving.

While that is true to an extent it’s not the full story. It depends on how long the queue becomes and the longer it is the more extreme people tend to get. 30mins is an acceptable wait time to play a large server. You, as well as everyone, weigh your options.

You aren’t understanding. The length of the queue relies on people actually logging off. When the queue starts piling up, people stop logging off and things grind to a screeching halt.

Perhaps I don’t come across correctly. Without a program to stay online people will eventually drop off, over time. I’ve done server management and it’s not typically as bad as you seem to believe it to be, especially at low numbers.

Granted It wasn’t for Blizzard so it could be on a whole other level. From what I’ve gathered over time it seems the queue doesn’t kick in until around 5k concurrent. Yojamba could increase in size by almost 2000 players before that happens. (going by observations, ironforgepro, and census plus data)

That’s the problem though. People are using Remote Desktop programs to stay online, and that will continue and is nearly impossible for blizzard to stop. There’s no purpose on speculating what queues would be like without them, because they are the reality.

We’re talking about two different subjects at this point:

  • People using remote tools to join queue for Arugal
  • Yojamba’s population control and if they get a queue

As far as #1 goes, yes it’s a problem; however, people aren’t bleeding off due to the queue in sufficient enough numbers and would rather cry on the forums about it. Time will fix that - eventually.

for #2: The server could increase by 30% and still be fine.

free transfers off Arugal to all other realms might help release pressure from the realm but they would have to try that to see how many people would take that path after a week of queues. It’s a waiting game and what I feel will most likely be offered.

People have been saying this for almost a year about the megaservers. it hasnt happened. if anything, they’ve retained a steady population and even grown as players condense into these servers from dying low pop ones.

At Whitemane’s peak, we had over 12k active, raiding players. We’ve since dropped to just under 10k after months of being closed to transfers, but with them reopened those numbers are rapidly ticking back up.

Thats the problem here - you cannot remove layers from megaservers and also allow people to transfer to them simultaneously. Any population loss you get from people quitting or xferring away is rapidly replaced by new transfers to an already full realm. The only solution blizzard has attempted thus far that has worked was layering and locking these realms to incoming xfers.
