Been having this problem since Tuesday (7/13/21). I was playing as normal for an hour or two, when all of a sudden the game froze up/stopped responding, but would not close. I could not even close it with Task Manager.
Now it does this after every 5-15 minutes of playing. So, not only is the game somewhat unplayable (because it does this every time), but I can’t put my pc to sleep, restart it, or shut it down because I can’t get the process to end.
I would post in tech support best place to get this kinda help u can edit and move ur post.
Having this same issue. I am able to press buttons to no effect (changing druid forms will change my action bar but that’s it) and I can see chat but nothing happens.
Also unable to log out or exit game and it takes me 5-6 tries to end process.

Same here. Seems to be an issue with scan and repair as it keeps finishing and then attempting to re-download a 6.67kb file finishes, but then I’m back to locked up game in ~15 minutes. Actually saw another post, it appears to be happening because of Riva tuner statistics server. Weird because every other game is fine including classic.
Edit: After testing WoW retail WITHOUT rtss OVERLAY on I have yet to crash. Just open up rtss and the second setting down in General “show in-game overlay” make sure that’s off for now and it should be fine to run both rtss and afterburner just without the overlay.
Seems it was a DirectX 12 issue, actually. I switched back to DX11 and haven’t had an issue yet.
you are correct 4 hours in game no freezes just by switching DX12 to DX 11 in game settings
