Ah … I currently see the issue on the PTR but not retail on 10.15.7.
I was thinking this was a WoW bug but it happened to me once while playing FFXIV as well, so I’m not sure. Maybe that was just a fluke though - it only happened once on that game and has happened to me several times on WoW, including 3 times in the last week. That’s unfortunate to hear it’s still happening on Big Sur though.
Any news on this? Just froze for ~5 seconds during the Anub’rekhan fight, right as he cast Locust Swarm. Discord was still running fine.
2020 iMac with 5700 XT and OS 11.0.1. Only WoW and Discord running.
With Catalina, it would usually hang and then recover. Now in Big Sur, it will hard freeze until the OS forces a logout. Once back into WoW, things will work fine. It’s a very strange freeze since it seems to happen only upon login (I see it while panning the camera) and much more often in Shadowlands sanctums as opposed to old world cities like Stormwind.
Appears to be happening a lot more recently on 11.5.2 and it often hard freezes my entire machine. Eventually the machine will reboot itself.
That’s the sort of thing I was worried about. 11.4 has fixed it for me; I haven’t had a freeze since installing it. But since it’s not ‘officially’ fixed, I wondered whether a future update might break it again. I have 11.5.2 sitting in Software Update but it sounds like I shouldn’t install it…
Edit: Sorry; I’m mixing up two different threads. I haven’t had the “DumpGPURestart” issue from the other thread (Freezing of screen (GPU crashes) retail and classic) since 11.4.
I still find this bug bazaar and possibly limited to certain Mac users. I have 3 2021 IMac’s with the 5700xt. Haven’t had any of the crashes spoke of here. I am wondering if perhaps I am running a different configuration than the effected users, perhaps keyboard or mouse difference. I am truely stumped. I run wow at 2k resolution so the GPU load isn’t very stressful. Also am running 11.5.2 OS.
