Gambling hall? Arena betting?

Probably not cause teenagers play this game and blizzard tries not to do literal gambling.

Okay on Old school runescape and runescape 3 you can stake the main currency which can be used to buy bonds , same thing as wow tokens. So idk how it’s any different. Also I’m not positive but I don’t think RuneScape is rated M

Edit , yep just looked it up and runescape is rated PG -13.

Yet gambling in the brawlers guild is fine. They have a npc that does it for you. I know it’s not regular gold but it is still gambling

This is what got other “gamblings” nailed or looked at for bad press. When it has the option in some way to involve real money.

Its what is getting loot boxes under the scope.

Its what got CS skins under the scope long ago. This is what started it all as I recall. One of the first major new breaking events a few years back.

Is this something real money can possibly feed or be made from. Just need a link, even if a long back breaking reach, to get bad press.

Again… no money or gold needs to exist for these games. So I’m not sure why you keep focusing on that.

The rules can’t be too strict seeing as how so many games now a days have loot boxes which are just a form of gambling

Old Republic’s rating never changed. They have slot machines, casinos and an entire holiday event centered around them.

Its what US lawmakers were looking at.

I see your point. Like with eve gambling. Its the US lawmakers companies have to look out for.

They don’t see the well its in game money you can make to cover this. they see several constituents writing them saying their kids are buying currency to pay for this.

They go in not all info taken in and crap happens.

It doesn’t have to involve money at all— in game or not.

Make casino type games that are free to play with a cooldown that have a chance to reward different cosmetics.

That’s my point. We don’t need to obsess over this money issue when it can be made a moot point.

It’s the titan vendor and it azerite loot crates.

crazy laws out there. thanks for the replies
Do you think a 18+ wow game would be possible?

Laws are irrelevant. People keep missing the point that T rated games out there already have gambling in some form.

I wanted something like the casino in EQ. I doubt it’ll ever happen though.

in some forms but a outright gambling hall would nt have the protection some games have.

Old Republic’s casino and slot machines and event seem fine. Brawler’s Guild betting is apparently fine.

ya but the climate in videogames seems a little to hot on hating gambling mechanics.
I mean theres allot of legistlation to crack down on micro transactions / gambling mechanics

I love this idea.

A player could queue for gambling hall and place wagers/watch others pvp.

I’d make the instance a dark bar with lots of cigar smoke and scantily clad blood elf waitstaff serving expensive drinks.

None of what you’re saying makes sense.

There’s already betting on fights in WoW. That’s gambling.

There’s slot machines in Old Republic. That’s gambling.

There’s card games in Fable with betting. That’s gambling.

There’s gambling in a boatload of Final Fantasy games since FFVI.

If these mechanics are so hated, they wouldn’t exist. If there was some huge issue or law, there wouldn’t be holiday events created around some of them.

This is a non-issue. Loot boxes =/= in game gambling. At all. And that’s what the legislators are trying to curb.

Maybe as part of some quest chains or other rpg-ish thing, but actual gambling I think is a bad idea. RNG mounts like the Legion Paragon mounts, and the Ashes of Alar are bad enough. Thank you.

It’s stupid EA I think and Activision calling them “fun boxes” :joy: It’s still in the process of being banned, but Germany has banned them for sure.

They’re still working on a legislation to banned them from minors being able to play those games.
