Hello there, I have some itemization questions and i have done extensive research but have found mixed results so i figured id try to narrow down the scope of things to my particular situation.
I’m a Human Fury Warrior currently equipped with Deathbringer in my MH and Brutality Blade in my OH. I have 10% Hit with current gear and could swap out my Omokk’s Girth Restrainer which gives 1% crit for Brigam Girdle that gives 1%hit.
My question is this. Now that i am above the initial soft cap of (9% Hit) and i have 305 Weapon Skill in my offhand, can I start replacing a piece of Hit gear for something with either crit or just better overall stats like more Strength or Attack Power etc.? Or should i still aim for more hit? Keep in mind Deathbringer is an Axe so i dont get racial Weapon Skill for that but i do for my offhand.
Also would getting Edgemaster’s Handgaurds even be worth it at this point to break up my Devilsaur 2 set?
Keep in mind if i were to swap out my Devilsaur gauntlets for Edgemaster’s i can regain 9% hit by swapping out current Belt for Brigam Girdle with 1% Hit. I would basically just lose 2% crit in the process. So i would drop from 19.5% crit to 17.5% crit unbuffed. My stat would then look like this. 9% Hit/ 17.5% crit/MH 307 Weapon Skill and OH 312 Weapon Skill.
Any help in where i can go form here to maximize DPS would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in Advance.
Just a bit of general consideration, soft cap only affects hit when things can’t block or parry. Off-hand hits still benefit from hit until 28% hit which is complete hard cap, so being slightly over cap is still beneficial.
Weapon skills simply treat your character as being a higher level, so boss mobs are treated as 63 so they effectively have 315 defense, having weapon skill merely makes up that difference to reduce the disparity and thus chance of missing/glancing. 305 is like being 61 for example.
I don’t think there are really great pant options until Titanic release which could hurt when dropping the Devilsaur set bonus which is what makes it really good.
Realistically in phase 1 you would need edgeguard and cloudkeeper legplates to replace the devilsaur set in the way you mentioned which is honestly just a whole heap of cash.
You could probably do it but the potential increase for the cost involved I don’t believe would be worth it.
Don’t waste money on edgemaster you don’t need, especially if you ALREADY equipped devilsaur. “max dps” does not equal money efficient, at all.
Ok, so hit is still worth something after 9% but is it priority at that point or should i go for crit/strength/attack power/agi over it? And if so which one of those would be more beneficial?
Go for crit. Heroic strike queue mechanic means you don’t ever need to push hit past soft cap anyway since the ability hit modifier will be applying to your off-hand white swings.
Something like:
/startattack
/cast Heroic Strike
/stopcasting
Toggle it between your MH weapon swings, and watch your off-hand rarely ever miss (assuming 9% or 6% w/ 305 behind target).

305 weapon skill = 6% hit needed for abilities to hit. Going from 10 to 6 hit will lower your white damage which is significant however the key is replacing that 4% hit with 4% crit / AP / str etc. Then it outways the loss of that 4% and actually hit harder when you do hit.
I went by the pre bis and ended up having 12% hit… I am at 9% now and still trying to drop it by replacing with crit/agi and my dps is increasing. Doesn’t hurt that the pieces I am replacing are t1 and t2 though (which unfortunately isn’t the case for fury warriors since tier = bad for dps).

The axe was still a huge upgrade and on phase 1 BiS list. Either way im happy. Have my lionheart too. Still need to farm HoJ. I killed Anger over 50 times easily and havent even seen it drop once. That guy is really pissing me off XD.
There is no non human Warrior in my guild so yeah…even if there was why would you assume they have edgemaster’s?
