I won’t be doing any mythic raiding, heck ill be lucky if i even do any heroic / normal raiding. Am I missing out on a big dps boost by choosing my 1handers over2handed for now? I got a nice 1 hand sword and don’t want to pass it up.
That being said, do allot of fury players put their loot spec in arms so that they don’t get 1handers?
I wanna say even at the top end it isn’t a very large gap between the two. So at the level you’re deacribing, no, I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
1handed fury gains 5% movement speed.
2handed fury gains more stamina from dual-wielding 2-handers.
That’s the real “mechanical difference” between the two, aside from variance in transmog options.
The damage output is supposed to be the same between the two.
SMF is something like ~1% behind Titan Grip at identical ilvls from what I’ve read. The bigger problem is that itemization has favored TG all expo.
There was no 233 ilvl str 1-handers in the Season 1. Season 2 Jaithys existed, and Season 3 we have Gavel from the Jailer. Season 4 you’ll be able to get both Gavel & Jaithys at the same time.
In addition going for 2-handers just simplifies gearing keep your specialization looting to Arms removing 1-handers from the table and assisting you in getting the other loot from the boss. 2handers let you swap to Arms if you want to mess around with that at any point, there’s just a buncha of benefits to not going SMF.

Can you picture anything cooler than holding a 2hander in each hand?
You’d normally need 4 hands for that
its that cool

Yea but my best weapon is a 1 hander so naw u wrong fem
equal ilvl, smf is about 2-3% less damage than tg, has less health and % healing, and smaller ignore pains.

Yes with how squishy Fury warrior is the extra health is not a luxury AT ALL
Fury is one of the least squishy DPS specs in the game…huh?
Arms is very tanky you just need to run away from fight, hope you don’t have a dot and hope you pick Second Wind, and hope no one touches you so it procs. EZPZ

I had to re-read this a few hours later and see the humor you got in on it. That’s classy. Almost thought it was a for-real response.

I don’t think they are planning on doing pvp since they only mentioned raids. 1h fury will be fine.
From what I understand is that SMF is comparative to TG in the overall scheme of things when it comes to DPS, with perhaps 1-2% difference at best. I think the bigger issue would be in something like PvP, where you’re essentially trading out a bit more health, a bit more healing (because of more health), a bit higher Ignore Pain value, and of course a bit more Verastility (~2% damage reduction overall) for 5% more movement speed. Don’t get it wrong though, 5% more movement speed is really nice, hence why so many top PvPers opted to use the crafted necklace/ring that gave a big boost in movement speed, despite it being 16 ilvls lower during PvP combat, but whether or not the 5% movement speed is more valuable than all the other benefits previously stated above really comes down to personal choice.
Overall, if you’re goal is to just clear certain PVE content, not competitively nor having the intent to perhaps reach the upper thresholds of what is available, then worrying about the difference between SMF and TG isn’t necessary. Even still, I would argue that if you do happen to progress to the tippy top, the difference still isn’t enough to impede your progress in anyway. Honestly, it’s mostly a social stigma, because the thought process from the general community is “Well obviously two 2handers are way better because they’re bigger!” making choosing to use two 1handers seem like a low IQ move.
Sorry if this is a necro.
My fury warrior (who uses Titans grip) recently got a 1h weapon with something like a 40 ilevel upgrade.
Is there a disadvantage to using 1x 1h and 1x 2h?
Yes, big disadvantage.
Mixing a 1H with a 2H stops the Singled Minded Fury aura from applying so you don’t benefit from +12% damage or 5% movement speed from using 2x 1H.
Because you’re not using a 2nd 2H you’re basically just gimping yourself in the stats/weapon damage department. Even a 235 2-hander has more stats/str then a 275 1-hander.
