Fun and Easiest Tank Currently?

This. Prot gets trucked tooooo often for my liking, especially in raids. Healing druids is where it’s at.

Vengeance Demon Hunter. They’re a bit like the older warrior design and have a lot of utility.

Protection Paladin, maybe. They have a lot of party utility.

Brewmaster might be trickier, and I’m not familiar with modern Guardian, but they’ve historically been simplistic.

Don’t play a Protection Warrior right now. They’re awful in every respect, and no more easier to play for it. It’s hard to believe even Blizzard play tested them at all given the state of the tanks in general, since it’s such a bottom outlier.

Nah they actually nerfed the effort needed to play Brewmaster. So much so people were whining about it. (Though I’m happy for the changes).

Your normal rotation itself maintains your AM now and then you purify it off and you still have an emergency button.

I’ve fallen in love with my Prot Pally this expansion and although I don’t tank groups, I play it out in the world because its so hardy. If you know the techniques of tanking, the methodology of the class, then I’d say Paladin is the way to go.

Easiest? Bear and then Pally. Fun? I find Blood DK fun! Pally would be my second so far I think, so for easy AND fun, I’d go with Pally.

Most easy I would go with Druid, it has a very simple threat generation tied into the same abilities you use for damage.

High health pool so it can be more forgiving on large hits than something like a paladin.

Unlike Vengeance your not stuck with a boring poor performing DPS Spec if you want to change things up.

Vengeance is definitely fun but I would disagree that its easiest. That title goes to Bear tank for sure, its so easy its boring! Its a great first tank imo for someone getting into it. I would never recommend Vengeance as a first tank because if you don’t play well its unforgiving just like Blood DK (worse imo).

I think most fun is dh, and maybe easiest is druid. Druid can do higher keys without kiting than dh, but depending on key level, DH might not even need to kite either.

Due to the low uptime of their active mitigation, i’m not sure dh makes a great first tank, though. Druid is prob best as a first tank, but getting groups will certainly be easier as dh (but you said you didn’t care about meta, so maybe you’re okay with that).

Fun and easy? Druid.

Druid is literally playing a tank with training wheels. There is no thought or effort needed and no tank’s weaknesses really matter at low mythic+ levels.

You also have a class that easily transforms (pun intended) to the strongest caster or a really good healer if you dont like tanking

There is no such thing as the difficulty is based on dealing with other players :+1:

That’s because that’s what tanking is like now in general. Even bear tanks can’t just face tank easily. Pally tanks seems the most capable of this.

Low level mythic + does not need kiting except on neurotic weeks and even then the bigger pulls. The OP is not going to be the next MDI superstar in training here

Vengeance is very easy to play at the level you’re looking to play. It gets harder at the very high level, with tricks and stuff you need to understand, but it’s basically just a DPS with defensives as far as low-level gameplay goes.

Just don’t play warrior. Easily one of the hardest and absolutely the worst. Bear is so easy you’ll get bored, so think carefully. I’d suggest VDH.

That’s kinda disappointing. I enjoyed some of the complexity it had back in WoD. It was a bit like Sub Rogue at the time, where you had to track quite a lot of stuff, but damn did it pay off being an amazing Brewmaster.

all tanks will be kiting high keys. Face tanking is for raids

Metro! Love the content man <3 How do you feel about Pally right now compared to Bear? Both pretty good?

Pally is an offensive power house but I can’t help but feel like they are just not where they need to be defensively.
Paladin kind of feels like a weaker Blood DK, in that they are super spikey and outside of CDs are going to get crushed.

Bear is the complete opposite.
Relatively weak offense (especially if you aren’t going into moonkin form for convoke) but easily the best defensive tank right now.

If you hate kiting, pick bear!
If you love toping the charts on AOE pulls, pick paladin.

Thanks for the support either way! If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask!

I will man, thanks for your input on those two. Any particular opinion on Brew? maybe a good mix of both?

Brew is a good mix of both for sure.
They have better offense than I expected with 2 keg smashes, and even though their defense is markedly down this expansion, their ability to kite and utility shine really well right now.

Not a tank that is just going to survive any thing no matter what any more though.
They need more agi for more stagger before that will happen.
