I decided to take the FrostFire tree on my frost mage. HOLY… Is it me or is it really insanely overpowered, or is it exactly what it was meant to be Heroic. I am not used to the power of the new tree. Things die really quick, even Elites.
What do other mage players think about the tree?
It’s the best together with arcane/sunfury build right now, and the only playable pvp spec which doesn’t get you locked down all the time.
I definitely don’t know(but probably butchered) the rotation for the FrostFire, tried it yesterday and was only 1/3rd of the DPS as the Slinger Frost build I am using. Although I am focused on Dungeons and M+ and Raids with it.
I will say Slinger build is mindnumbing to a degree, but I enjoy turning my brain off and watching netflix sometimes too 
It’s certainly a great hero tree, especially the Frost Frostfire, but I would hold off on the excitement for now. Nothing is tuned properly yet and normal/heroic dungeons and open world content is a cakewalk with any spec. Once we see the live data from the raid and M+ it will become clear which hero trees are performing well.
Now that the slew of bugs Frostfire Bolt had were fixed (for Fire at least) it feels much better. I don’t appreciate it taking 2 weeks and Blizz fixing them under the radar like they did, but Blizz does that sometimes -_-’
Living Bomb still need tuning drastically, but overall I do enjoy the Hero Talents.
Frost frostfire (or mage for that matter) was definitely not on my radar for TWW and yet, here I am maining it. It is great fun 
Just don’t try Fire anything or you will be in for a world of disappointment rn, lol.
Funnily enough, I haven’t really been into fire since they changed combustion from a dot to a buff. I miss those days of spreading my super dot

Combustion DoT really was Fire peak. Miss that also 
You should come play it on Cata Classic then before MoP launches, because Combustion and DoT spreading get giga-nerfed in the MoP pre-patch.

Yeah it’s so damn tempting. I’m just not sure if I can commit to classic as well as retail. I may look into it though. I feel the nostalgia (and numbers) pulling at me
Cata is pretty quick and easy to level up in, nothing like SoD/Era. You get off the ground pretty quickly, and even at 85 gear acquisition is very straightforward and takes little time.
The only time it gets difficult for mage is when you get to Cata leveling zones (80+) cause mobs start tearing through you. But since you know how to play retail mage you can handle here fine.
It’s your only chance tho cause like I said, MoP hits fire with some serious nerfs that really screw the spec over. The mages that stick around here will not be Fire after Cata ends.
The funny thing is Frostfire is actually quite undertuned atm.

Frost Frostfire made me play frost again. It’s super fun throwing an ice lance at your target and then blowing them up.
Im having a lot of fun on my frost mage. I boosted a DK and was deciding between the two as to who would be my main this expac. I think I am going with frost mage. I am loving that 95% of the spec is instant cast. makes me feel like playing range on my BM
It is not at all overpowered at max level. You’re 73, so numbers are all over the place. If anything, it is undertuned at 80.
