Frost passive nodes

The vast majority of passive nodes, except for maybe Frostwhelp’s Aid are just flat out boring.

Particularly from a PvP perspective, you are forced into so many borderline useless and uninteresting talents. Even your final talents in the Obliteration line are useless which just feels terrible. Cold-Blooded Rage quite literally does nothing during Obliteration, which is also kinda weird considering it’s the connecting node. Bonegrinder requires too many stacks to proc so most Pillar windows you won’t even see it, and if you do your pillar is over and it goes to waste.

It’s disappointing for me to not have anything to be excited about in the beta, my Frost DK doesn’t have any cool new abilities and the tree is painfully rigid.

A simple fix would be adding more connections to improve flexibility but honestly it just needs someone to sit for 30 mins and actually come up with talents that are fun.

Edit - added some quick suggestions of talents that i’d be excited to see in the tree

Horn of Winter - Now also grants a Killing Machine proc.

New Talent - Your next Killing Machine Obliterate is empowered by the most recently used ability.

  • Frost Strike - Resets your autoattack swing timer. This means your next KM Obliterate will also cause a melee hit, giving you a chance at proccing another KM without having to weave
  • Howling Blast - Your Obliterate will inflict a bleed for 30%~dmg of the damage done. Another option could be to accelerate the dot tick rate on the Frost Fever instead. Applying Frost Fever before your KM Obliterate means you can now improve your dot dmg through a new bleed, or perhaps accelerating the existing dot.
  • Horn of Winter - KM Obliterate will summon 2 skeletal archers that fire ice arrows at your target, applying razerice. An extra razerice applicator, particularly useful for 2h fallen crusader builds, but also useful for dual wield Shattering Strike builds.
This talent could be split up into individual nodes too if needed.

New Talent - Killing Machine can now stack 2 times.

Personally, I like talents like Enduring Strength and Frostwhelp’s Indignation. Those two talents were defined in BfA and kind of warrant a 2 point talent points since they are pretty strong.

CBR is a PvE Talent more or less and if anything that’s also an opportunity cost of allocating to Obliteration. It should be cost at least one point instead of two.

Same thing can be said about Invigorating Freeze. I’m not too sure how impactful Icebreaker is.

Oh and don’t forget to laugh at Runic Command!

Maybe if we pillar after we use up one km proc but that is quite hopeful in PvP. They recent patch seems to have increased frost whelp master buff by 100% if I interpreted it correctly. But yeah despite all the stuff, it feels like I have a harder time getting to what I had in this current season. Chill streak, remorseless winter extending, dragon stun, might leave us without being able to upgrade chill streak take inexorable assault or second charge of ERW or take FE/rot for (expecting some overpowered howling blast build to pop up) or take ecerfrost. At least if the passive nodes were a little cooler it would feel better for me. But maybe I’ve got to get used to talent trees and really hunker down what I want. But if ever so slightly feels like I have a little bit less (from frost tree, I actually like the general tree bar the boring leech avoidance talents)

and unleashed frenzy!

these are interesting ideas. would def use killing machine stacking on an oblit build. but what i like about this talent is it’s not overly useful for sindrag.
