I think the OP is more referring to duels.
And I very much agree that large BGs like Alterac Valley you will have some unchecked frost mages dumping snow on everyone.
Just gonna put this here.

No, that IS you being bad. Cuz you COULD be doing something to counter that. Whereas they cannot do anything to counter you playing good.
SO basically:
If they play good, you CAN counter it.
If YOU play good, they canât counter it.
If they play good and you canât play around that, then IT IS you being bad. And as a frost mage I HAVE won tons of matches, sub-par. But thereâs always people like you I can just sit spamming frostbolt until they die or root them cuz they donât even have the medallion or know they can get out of it.

-Grisly Icicle leggo is bad for pvp. Because other players can break your frost nova. It is only good for Wpvp. Play with Freezing Winds, Triune Ward or Disciplinary Command.
-You need more gear. More haste and more versa.
-Do not play with Glacial Spike in pvp, it takes 4 s to cast and you lose the ability to lunch your icicles while moving. Ray of Frost and Thermal Void are better for pvp.

Frost mages got a pretty hard nerf in 9.2 that was designed to dial back their AoE damage, but all itâs done is messed up the rotation and leaves us sitting there like chickens spamming frostbolts and blizzard while waiting on our CDs.
Itâs caused a significant and noticeable drop in their overall DPS and essentially messed up our rotation in M+ dungeons.
You using all your CDs when you donât need to is not whatever you think it is.
Itâs not the enemy being good.

nothing beats 1 shotting people in pvp with glacial spike build!
it makes me happy imaging the face of someone going from 100% to 0%
(especially bubble boiâs because they canât react!)
now itâs annoying to pull off the castâŚbuut ooohhh so satisfying when it works.
(get 5 stacks +ROP+IV +FOF cast kyrian aility cast frost bolt/flurry using glacial spike on last stack with 100% guaranteed crit) mastery trinkets are great any buffs only make this get crazier (stack as much mastery/vers as you can)
itâs very fun in mythic plus also as I have pulled glacial spikes doing 250-300k damage between all targets when using the kyrian legendary.
i know one time i did a 500k glacial spike on the first boss in ardenweald dungeon because they get a debuff and 2 targets. again with proper gear/buffs i am sure i can get it higher. but haven;t played this mage in a while and this post makes me want to get those spikes rolling again. i am sure i will be getting this much higher soon unless the tuning has changed since havenât kept up with mage buffs/nerfs.
i have made people say your dps is crap to out dpsing them by a mile because this is basically a GLASS NUKE and then your a noodle while you build your next nuke.
Fire mage on proc (last tier talent). Can deal slightly more than 50% more damage than Glacial spike with Pyroblast.
To be precise, if Glacial Spike did 50k, Pyroblast would deal 80k, ignoring mastery.
In this case what you need is Haste and Versatility, mostly haste, about 20%, then just versatility or mastery.
And as Glacial Spike only works on PvE unless you are playing against a training dummy.

pyroblast isnây gareenteed a crit though so pyro has higher non crit damage but glacial spike always crits with brain freeze.
pyroblast with proc also has a longer cast time and more easily stoped and only hits only target and is much harder to work with kyrian ability. glacial spike with talent hits 2 targets and those two targets hit 4 other targets with kyrian legendary for 25% more.
Pyro always crits with combustion, itâs about the same cast.
Itâs just better overall. This is hardly my opinion, itâs numbers. It deals more damage.
And glacial spike doesnât work like you think it does, if it hits 2 targets only the main target will benefit from the kyrian legendary. Only the target with radiant spark. Itâs on the description and can be proven through testing.
