Frost DK Nerf, nerfed. Big sad

I use frostbane with 2h and how I read it that ga procs it when used

Did you know a km oblit fires off a ga via some talents. everytime km is up and I can bank km and I fire off loads of GAs an frostbane procs alot so that works for me

I just dont think it applies the debuff fast enough without going DW with the offhand. 2h Frostbane feels worse to me than whatever BoS 2h feels like (even though BoS has more fluidity with DW).

Well it’s what I use and I see it alot so it works then nice

Also breath is just 8sec now so just fire it and do your thing makes me think of a frontal rw

The problem is that it’s not enough to simply hit Frostbane. Frostbane benefits from Shatter Blade, so in order to make Frostbane truly work you have to quickly build 5 stacks of Razorice on all enemies before hitting Frostbane as much as possible.

This means it’s pretty much required to DW and have Razorice on your main hand so Frostcythe applies Razorice to your targets, on top of Glacial Advances and Avalanche Rimes.

With that being said - These ST nerfs were not warranted. In a Raid setting - they are B+ maybe A tier.

Rider FDK was simming top 3 in single target. All the specs near it were nerfed except for Elemental Shaman, which somehow managed to slip by.

All in all it’s fairly reasonable, at least from a pure numbers standpoint. Of course your still a DPS DK and you don’t have a raid buff, so you’re kinda screwed unless you’re doing better than average damage… so from that perspective maybe it wasn’t warranted. But that’s more about blizzard being stupid about not just giving DKs a proper raid buff.

Nerfing Obliterate sucks, I guess they want to funnel all Frost DKs into BOS again.

You are aware BoS builds run Obliteration with 2h Riders, yes?

If anything this nerf least impacts dual-wield Deathbringer Shatter (the build I run).

  • Obliterate damage reduced by 5%.
  • Rider of the Apocalypse: Mawsworn Menace now increases the damage of Obliterate by 5% (was 10%).
  • Rider of the Apocalypse: Hollow Sentinel’s Wake 2-piece now increases Trollbane’s Obliterate damage by 15% (was 35%).
  • Deathbringer: Exterminate first scythe damage increased by 10%.

rider FDK will survive the nerfs, the main thing accomplished from them is exactly what u said, equalized power between db and rider

cause before those nerfs, was looking like rider was gonna be once again, better at quite literally everything than DB (pvp)

This is literally an imaginary problem that exists in your own head. Theyre functionally doing the same thing. Theyre bringing the classes tighter together. This nerf isnt going to be the reason you dont get invited to a key or raid or something.

My DK took a break in the last season, but even on my other characters I mostly grind Delves and open world content, occasionally doing LFR or Timewalks if there is some quest that would give me better gear then delves. I haven’t done any normal raiding since BFA and not much then, mostly in Wrath when I actually had a lot of friends playing.

Normally I would agree, but it’s easier to nerf a single class as opposed to buffing 20+ classes.

I hate frost, but since Unholy sucks so bad…and I am tired of the bug reports being ignored. I figured Fine. I’ll change specs (New Season, easy to adapt gear) for the first time since Legion. But pumped the brakes as soon as I see the DPS numbers on Frost (LOL)

Sure, Frost Strikes can hit extremely hard, but blanket nerfing it is not the solution.

Deathbringer Frost Strikes are nowhere near as powerful as Riders, yet they still got nerfed. Why are we not looking at the 180 different talents/modifiers that buff it?

If you’re not running Riders + shattering + hyper, FS isn’t very impressive, so this ‘base FS nerf’ was the wrong play.

Not to mention, the current set also pumps FS even higher, which won’t be happening with the next set.
