From 1 to 10, Rate Dragonflight's first Week

because they played on the wotlk lore with the expansion’s trailer getting people thinking it was revisiting that somehow, when in fact it had nothing to do with it. a classic blizzard bait and switch.

I don’t know what it is but I just have a hard time caring about the story this exp.
Infact after WC1,2,3 stories were wrapped up I haven’t really cared about the story at all.

On this note, I will say that one thing I appreciate about Dragonflight is that it feels like the ACTUAL successor to Wrath of the Lich King, and not just a pretender that borrowed some ICC style designs and co-opted a few legacy characters (and used them poorly). Sure we don’t have the Scourge, but a lot of the Dragon / Titan / Old God is continued from the Wrath era, with beautiful Dragon temples, imposing Titan structures, and the lurking threat of the return of Old Gods.

Big cope, but maybe we’ll get a true successor to Ulduar in DF? That would be pretty sweet.

6/10 and I’m being generous. The questing so far has been good, I won’t say the story has been. That has yet to be seen, we’ve basically gotten chapter one and two… Not enough to tell you if the rest of the book is decent or not.

I think they need to do one of two things… put more herbs out in the world, or reduce the costs required. specially after adding all of this unnecessary complexity to crafting.

Lastly, I think the dungeons aren’t going to be fun. It isn’t the healing, it is the first week… I’m just not enjoying them.

6/10 Seems like they wanted to play it safe with this one and just went with a generic wow experience. Nothing groundbreaking but a welcome change from shadowlands.

The only thing I don’t really like at this point is how the professions level up. My bags are so full with multiple different quality levels of the same ore and j/c mats. I don’t know what to do with it.

9/10 for the content we have so far. Might adjust after the season start.

I think this is my biggest issue so far as well, a few of the dungeons feel like they have WAY too much trash, and often trash packs feel harder than some boss encounters ( looking at the gnoll instance).

but overall I’m enjoying the expansion, a solid 8/10 for me no complaints aside from dungeons having too much trash

8 out of 10.

Dragon Riding is so awesome I lack the words to express how much I enjoy it. I love the Centaur and Tuskar areas and all the of the Dragon lore.

The reason I knocked off 2 points is the PvP balance… Several classes went into the Xpac extremely broken to the point of ruining the PvP experience… Blizzard, You can’t let classes go live in God mode even for a day… Guardian Druid, Havoc DH, DK (nerf inbound), Shadow Priest, Aff/Demo Locks, WW Monks, Sub Rogue(nerf inbound) all went to live in a new Xpac beyond busted in PvP… Not even close to reasonable class balance.

All that aside when I am out in the world questing Dragon Flight is by far my favorite expansion and the crafting changes are AWESOME!

Edit: The new talent trees are also very cool, I like making tweaks to my build depending on what I’m doing, options feel good.

What borrowed power did they have in Pre Patch?

Agreed. 9/10 right now but we will have to wait and see what it all looks like once the honeymoon phase is over.

8/10.

The good:
-Dragonriding. WoW’s flying system was out of date compared to every other game’s movement.
-Great new hub. Not Oribos. 10/10 on that.
-Zones are beautiful.
-New talent trees mean less borrowed power crap.
-Zone stories / factions are far more enjoyable than random cosmic entities of Shadowlands.

The Bad:
-Player visuals still need drastic updates. Moonkin, Shadow Priests, and Shaman Ascendance form in particular.
-PvP feels horrible.
-Some classes still feel unfinished.

I feel like a lot of people have “story fatigue” after the lore butchering of Shadowlands.

What is it all worth when Elune is a robot and half of the previous lore was invalidated by ridiculous cosmic beings secretly pulling strings from the death realm?

I think players will take time to recover from that.

1/10. It’s such a bad xpac, I don’t really know where to start. Already canceled.

7.5/10. Broken areas in the game (professions are a bit confusing). The stories are fine and compared to SL, this is a better start. Not having a main villain feels good. But the dungeons need to take lesser time. Won’t complain much about them. I am still having fun. Score is based of what I have seen so far.

7/10

This is the probably the first xpac where I haven’t really been wowed by anything, especially the art and the music. Usually when xpacs first come out, I just spend hours appreciating the amazing art, neglecting leveling to just take everything in. Sure, the art/music are still good, but it just feels like “more of the same”. Going through the zones, I just felt like “oh hey, it’s a re-done Highmountain, a re-done Grizzly Hills, a re-done Suramar”.

Also, the tone is just really weird in Dragonflight. It doesn’t really feel like WoW; it feels like Hearthstone’s version of WoW. I get that they wanted a more light-hearted approach after Shadowlands for some contrast, but this is just wayyy too cutesy. It feels like their target market is children and cat-ladies.

The best feature is the pacing and amount of stuff to do. I love that they made leveling easy, but still put in loads of quests and secrets to find. The solo players should finally be happy. The pvp gearing is really good too; you can get fully geared up in just a couple hours.

The absolute worst aspect of Dragonflight is the writing. Even putting aside the completely unnecessary/cringey political BS, the writing is just baaad. Almost all of the quests are so boring that I struggle to finish reading the quest text. Plus, the writing style is indistinguishable from most current pop culture; it takes that snarky/quippy/“bad romantic comedy”-style writing that you see everywhere these days, and it’s just not a good fit for World of Warcraft. It’s as if the writers are more concerned with seeking your approval than writing interesting characters/stories. “Hey, isn’t this funny? Isn’t this cute?”

I expect Dragonflight to be better than BFA/Shadowlands over time, but I enjoyed both of those xpacs more at the start of them than I do DF.

I Miss MoP/10

7/10. Lag and server stability are a negative, dragonriding and the evoker class are a positive, and the leveling experience is really fantastic imo. Professions are a mild disappointment because the path to progression is not immediately clear, but once you get started, things go smoothly.

8/10. Eliminate political messages. WoW is a game, not a real world. I do love dragon riding, Dracthyr, professions. The plus plus is able to see the Dragon Aspects again. I did like the touch of the Black Dragon egg tender. She reminded me of my grandma (RIP). She was all out to protect and nurture her grandkids.

10 for me. No complaints
