good:

  • The lack of “I NEED to log on for X, or hit cap immediately, or do Y or else I’m super behind!”, is really really nice and I hope they can keep it this way.
  • Dragonriding/mount customization, honestly I hope this is part of their “evergreen” content going forward. really well done in my opinion.
  • The talent system is really cool, lots of options and the best part is there is 0 “friction” in switching or respeccing - love it.
  • Art, as always, and the music has been nice as well.

Bad:

  • Story. I’m totally fine with simple plots, but the writing and some of the voice acting makes this feel like a washed-up cartoon (I don’t mean to seem harsh, but that’s the best way I can describe it). This has been an issue with WoW for a while, but everything is ham-fisted and has to be bombastic without any time to breathe, I know this is a combat oriented game, but servicing more RP or non-combat oriented pacing or content I think would go a long way, simply to break up the pace a little bit. That said, they’ve taken some good steps! The random decisions where you can flesh out your character through dialogue, or the one quest where you listen to the old dwarf was really nice! If the writers just allow more breathing time and more decisions (branching decisions would be awesome too, doesn’t have to be major) I think it’ll help a lot.
  • The lack of continuity is annoying as well, I’ve been playing for years with the same character and being referred to as “soldier” or having none of the past exploits referenced or seem to matter in each new expansion has gotten old.

But all in all I’m actually enjoying my time playing it, they did good with all their changes from the last couple expacs and I’m hopeful they’ll continue on this track.

8.5/10. I’d like for dragonriding to be adapted to all forms of gameplay, and for the talent trees to expand over time.

The story has generic and predictable reactions and interactions, but there are some points that I really like. More that I don’t care for, but for WoW I’ll take 1/10 good interactions.

Dungeons are really nice initially, but there’s a lot of anti-melee stuff that just doesn’t make sense…and don’t get me started on Brackenhide Hollow and the necessity of a dispel that not all healers have. Utterly stupid.

So maybe an 8/10 with that said.

Biggest chance I quit is if my brothers don’t buy DF, but reading some of these responses…there’s just a lot of depressed people who just happen to be playing WoW it seems. To each their own, but there’s some super poor takes.

I’m also remembering a few quests with horrible drop-rates. Like the Salamander Heart…needing to kill 15 of them for 1 heart was stupid. Also, Vitrified Sand. You need 8, and they seem to have a 10% drop rate.

I’m no stranger to grinding, but I thought Blizzard had learned what’s too much…
7.5/10.
Edit: ok well I got lucky this time on my warlock, but my other two characters weren’t.

Also, there’s WAY too many dialogue buttons required for some quests. Like, I accepted the quest…let me do it. I don’t wanna accept 1 campaign quest and wait 10 seconds for you to RP and give me the other 2 in hopes I fly away too soon. That kinda stuff just irks me.

Keeping it 7.5 though.

Strong 7 to light 8.

Because this expansion is beautifully made and produced and no borrowed power or any external systems and no other negative aspects from the 3 or 4 expansions that came before Dragonflight.

The music in this expansion is more diverse and more memorable and more comforting and calming and all around really beautiful and enjoyable. (But clearly some of you dislike the ingame music for some reason)

The dungeons in Dragonflight is beautifully made and designed and way better than that of shadowlands and past expansions.

The dragon isles as a whole is better than any of the 3 or 4 expansions that came before it.

?/10 to early to give a number.

0 out of ten after 12 years just don’t want to come home to a second job and dragon flying is a job. What happened to all the time and gold I put in collecting mounts

8/10, felt like a return to WoW’s roots for sure, dragon riding makes the world content fun, I rarely stop to AFK in Valdrakken, I’m always doing something, dungeons have not been my favorites so far, I felt like a lot of them are going to be painful in M+, I’m excited to raid and ao far despite the story being very tame, I’m more interested by it than I was in Shadowlands, the account wide things is great, farming the grindable reps are fun because I’m doing them because I want to, not because the game tells me I have to, so far the experience has been pretty good.

10/10 on the art. The quality and detail just make me want to log in and gather to be in the world. Even the ugly places have their charm.
25/10 on not having to walk everywhere. This almost makes up for the mobility abuse we’ve endured since WoD. Hopefully this is the standard going forward.
10/10 on the playground feel of the Dragon Isles. There’s so much to do. This feels like Timeless Isle but with flying.
5/10 for the story. There’s just not much to recommend here. Hopefully it gets better.
10/10 for the questing freedom that alts have. Feels good.
9/10 for the talent trees. Some of my fav specs could use a little more juice, but I’m still having fun with them.

So far, loving it.

main story is passable, sidequests are actually amazing, dragonriding is great, the crafting overhaul I’m still figuring it out, but I think adding depth to it is a good idea.

most expansions are pretty good their first few weeks, dragonflight if they keep up the momentum and release frequent meaty content patches could be great.

9.5/10. I’ve been playing since classic, and the last 2 expansions have left me so jaded I almost didn’t want to give this one a try. I can’t begin to describe how much better the first week looks than every expansion since Legion. Dragonflying is a more engaging way to travel the world than anything we’ve had since BC, and the new profession system seems to present real significance, choices, and engagement. I recognize the complaints from players who prefer a more ARPG style of gameplay, but for a person who cares more about the world and character development, Dragonflight is looking really good. My big reservations right now are whether the profession system loses its significance, if the story is as bad as SL (in my eyes), and whether renown is a detrimental or benign game mechanic.

I am 8 as well . losing two over renown and crafting orders

4/10, not counting technical issues. The only saving grace happens to be the 2 classes I play the most feel good. You don’t realize how much better WOW was until you play older versions of it.

10/10 so far. I’ve got my priest honor and dungeon set done, adventure mode unlocked, dragon riding maxed, lots of progress on new professions, and now been working on burning rested on alts.

5/10, overall pretty good. The connection issues, while not unusual, were still bad. Dragonriding is fine. I can feel myself getting bored of the Nokhud Offensive but Ruby Life Pools is neat. Leveling is fast, I am already level 65 and I’m 2/4 chapters in the first zone.

9/10 There is still room for improvement. Dragonriding is great although I wish there was some type of “hover” mechanic (Either to spec into or at full Vigor only.)

5/10 - Announced Dragonflight w/ talent tree rework and dragonriding

3/10 - When talent trees released

7/10 or 8/10 - Dragonriding is very fun (just want an action camera for it), classes are more fun than SL’s but they need more work to be a blast, crafting seems decent (haven’t crafted since WotLK or Cata), new race/class (would’ve rather have had Drakonids and need more playable races like Ogre) and I am enjoying the maps especially Thaldraszus.

To each their own.

5/10
pros:
-no “borrowed power”
-talent trees
-some variety in casual world quest events
-dungeons seem decent

cons:
-dragonriding too convenient
-forgettable zone designs
-every npc is either gay or trans or disabled or some other goofy diversity checkmark to the point it becomes parody
-doom-tier storytelling

meh:
-ui updates
-crafting updates
-questing

no opinion:
-evokers
-music (muted)

8/10. Story was fun and interesting. I’ve only found one world quest that I just despise (The sheep herding. Good. God.) And contrary to a lot of people I love the profession system but I think the Work Orders are going to make for a fascinating social experiment.

It’s clear that the playerbase hasn’t caught on to it yet, but you can save a lot of gold by using it. Green mining picks were going for 6k on day two, I was able to have one made for like 300g in mats and a 200g commission. And it’s not like you won’t find someone who would make it (Provided people can. We’ve got people listing Epic Armor no one can make yet ._.) but there is a fascinating problem that I think will affect more people than others.

I’m a gem cutter. No one is using it to get gems. People will legit rather pay 8k gold for a gem then have one commissioned. It’s insane. I was able to make 3 gems for people in the past three days. I’m making profit, but it feels like unless you make armor or weapons you won’t benefit too much from it until it gets adopted.

Dungeon design to me is great. None of them give me that claustraphobic feel I hated with things like Waynerest Manor or Sanguine Halls. But until we see M+ next week I won’t have a solid answer.

The only real issues I’ve had is being flooded with reagents despite having a 36 slot reagent bag, the bugs (I’m playing russian roulette anytime I open my Jewel crafting menu without a table. 1/6 odds to insta DC.) and lacking a sense of direction once I finish the world quests. Again, will probably change once M+ and the raid is out.
