Don’t equate “faction pride” with play the dang game with friends no matter what faction they chose to enjoy.
The two ideas don’t need to be mutually exclusive.
That said, if you don’t have a roster of characters that spans both factions after 16 years of playing the game… maybe you’re taking it all a little bit too seriously.

It doesn’t need to affect open world PvP at all.
The rules for that can stay just as they are. A simple rule that you are not allowed to join a party with a member of the opposing faction in Warmode.
OR
Just make Warmode a Free for All.
OR
Make the players choose which faction they want to join in WarMode.
AND/OR
Players and/or Guilds choose from a variety of various factions… anything from Horde or Alliance to any of the multitude of in game factions or new factions that have been created just for WarMode, each with their own sanctuary cities.
OR
Create a Guild War system where guilds themseves can form alliances and declare enemies with other factions and/or guilds/alliances.
There’s so much game play that could be created with PvP in mind.
This is funny because I know a 5-man team that went Alliance a few months ago in order to push higher keys and do better in PvP with the better Alliance racials.
I am working under the assumption that cross faction play will include cross faction guilds. Or else its pretty pointless.
Which will hurt guilds.
I don’t think Blizz wants to go that route.
Possible.
Don’t see anything but Horde/Alliance as an option.
Doubtful.
Sure. But I don’t expect a major overhaul to the system. So if I discount those, and the ones that wouldn’t quite work with cross faction guilds. It limits the options that may or may not be doable.
Cross faction anything doesn’t work, Alliance would have massive advantage, from EXP gain, easier Hall of Fame, all while having Horde resource.
How many time does Horde should suffer because Alliance is too garbage to stand on its own?

It is not a Blizzard problem. It’s a player problem.
I have characters on both sides. The Alliance is the most toxic collection of players I have ever encountered. And I have played a lot of games.
Horde players tend to do stuff. Alliance players sit in chat and hurl insults. Who would want to be part of that?

I’m not even sure I should be responding to this as a serious argument. What advantage?
Factions are old and dated, they no longer serve the function of conflict.
We’ve been busy saving each other this expansion.
I could literally walk up to Jaina right now and give her a hug.

Right…
No one is talking about racials. OP’s friends switched factions because the bulk of high-end players in NA are on Horde. Not because they like the Horde. Not because Horde has better racials. Just because the playerbase is lopsided and Blizzard refuses to address it. That’s what Shirt was saying.

What is the point of trying to push higher especially if it is post nerf?
Now you will just be a human with pointy ears, a zanda troll, or a holy cow
The open world pvp is easy, all they have to do is horde and alliance, can group for dungeons and raids…but still be KOS for the opposite side and or go to enemy faction city…
Would love just a Neutral faction but that would just gut the horde and the alliance…if they did that
Did you even read the post?
yeah I read it. There are no advantages regarding which faction you pick. Not even those you think you have listed.
HEY, watch it where you zug please

Alliance have
Enlistment bonus → Extra Honor
AOO → Extra Quest rewards
Easier Hall of Fame spot
How did you not know this yet you’re here arguing about high end PVE PVP balance?
I reject your hypothesis that these things give alliance an advantage.
Your move.
