Dragons are born intelligent that much we know… but they age in dog years within the game I’ve never seen discussed. In other people lore, yes. but that doesn’t equate to their lore = our lore.
I mean I’m just going with how WoWs presenting it. If they mean something else then they suck at their job
In a universe where lifespans vary from almost nothing to immortal it makes no sense to compare this dragon’s chronological age to a humans, especially given how he’s obviously not a child intellectually.
The Wrathion we saw in BFA is likely to be his typical form unless something transformative happens in 10.0
And do remember dragon biology is… odd.
Do we have record of any half dragon half humanoids that don’t involve science or magic?
If we made dogs wait until they reached the human age of consent to take a mate, then the species would go extinct within a single generation. This is true of most lifeforms. You can’t push human reproductive mores on a species of hyper-evolved magical titan elemental proto-lizards (who might be robots now, who knows)
Plus dragons don’t really put the same mores and restrictions on reproduction and relationships in WoW. Dragons are actually pretty horifying in this regard
Hey do you guy’s remember that one time Malygos took Keristrasza captive and cut mind control runes into her flesh to drive her insane while he raped her as an unwilling consort to repopulate his dragonflight back in that WOTLK leveling dungeon the Nexus resulting in her choosing to force the player characters to kill her instead of rescuing her because she thought death was a better option?
Yeah, that is the story behind it.
Yeah, that’s cannon.
I wonder why they haven’t given it the old “bowl of fruit” treatment yet?
Or Alexstrasza and all the eggs she was forced to make. Or Sinestra because there’s no such thing as safe sex with Deathwing
Side note: If Malygos can cut mind controlling domination runes into things then Malygos has access to domination magic which only exists in the shadowlands because the primus invented it. I wonder how/why?
Thanks for writing Shadowlands Danuser! Even draconic sexual assault scenarios aren’t safe from your retcons.

I think it was a different thing of magic. There’s mind control which is something any priest can do. Domination was more a “lets just taint your soul and scar it over time”
imagine humanizing a dragon. LOL you’re very sharp op
Definitely domination runes carved into her flesh. IMO at least.
Now I understand fully that domination runes weren’t a thing back then, and the jailor and his story/lore are being forced down our throats, but this looks pretty darn close. That’s the problem with throwing retcons and recontextualizations in because, in this case for example, I now have to justify as a player that Malygos knew that domination runes existed and how to use them to make a… umm… unwilling egg producer.
It’s even the same visual effect with the DK eye glow and similar rune glow.
Hmm. If I haaaaaad to guess. A lot of the runes with the jailer could have been reused assets from Wrath of the Lich King to help tie the whole “Zomg eet wuz da jailer all alooooong” nonsense.
Also its really easy for a lot of runes in many different things to be similar. But eh I can see what you’re going with
Bad writing can fix that.
See the Primus knew something was wrong so he magically (because magic explains everything) gave Malygos the knowledge to make them. The Primus was able to see that the Shadowlands would need the Chosen Ones so it put in place stepping stones to make us stronger. Overcoming the domination magic with Malygos and the Lich King made us stronger. Strong enough to defeat death!
Zovaal and the Primus have been playing chess using mortals as the pieces. Don’t trust the Primus this is all a game to him spins around in tin foil hat
Yeah but a undead 20 something with no smithing experience had a dream of an idea for a weapon like frostmourne and managed to make an axe that was of the same quality of The Primus.
Really knocks the wind out of the “the primus is so cool!” sails lol
They can retcon everything in shadowlands through multiverse
While Manual of Monsters gives a ballpark figure to how much time passes between each stage of a dragon’s life cycle, it lacks information on “whelps”, but implies that whelps become “drakes” in one year of hatching from the egg (however this may no longer be accurate, although it seems to be supported by information given in Day of the Dragon).
Age ranges for dragons from Dark Factions represent race ages for the dragon (whelp) creature class (technically a dragon whelp creature class). As noted the game rules only describe how to play “whelps”, specifically a red dragon whelp (which start out as adults, and can reach a certain maximum age range before dying). Other whelps must be made by modifying certain aspects of the creature class (subtypes and abilities). The age ranges are not equivalent to aging into drakes, mature, or dragonwyrm forms. There are no rules in the book on how to play a drake, but it discusses that players could create their own creature classes to describe drakes.
These were taken from the Wowpedia page regarding life spans and dragons. Not really a lot of info here though.
Oooo. How recent is this btw?
Bad writing can save this too. The Primus was able to use a small amount of his power and channel that knowledge. It was an undead, a being already in the grip of domination magic. He used that thread of magic to use him.
There is nothing a little bad writing cannot solve. Now if we like it is a different story.
Well I think this information also pulls from the Warcraft series and doesn’t just pertain to WoW. It seems to be referencing a tabletop D&D type game as well. I assume it’s VERY old and outdated. But the one thing I noticed was that it mentioned it takes a year for a whelp to become a drake.
So that seems to reinforce that they age different than we do. Also prior to Dragon Soul they were immortal, weren’t they?
I think it goes without saying, I am not a fan of bestiality or pedo stuff but I think information about WoW races and lore is interesting. There’s a lot we don’t know!
Ah yeah if its the table top stuff that’s hella old
Yeah. And after some more reading I found more conflicting info lmao
The dragons of Azeroth reach maturity after a mere hundred years have passed. They are very cunning and magical, using spells to complement their powerful physical capacity.
That’s from the RPG section under Dragon in Wowpedia. I like to think Wowpedia is pretty reliable. But I may be wrong. Again, this info conflicts with the lifespan page.
So maybe. A whelp can become a drake after a year, but it takes a hundred years to fully mature? Who knows. If that’s the case, Wrathion has a ways to go and maybe … shouldn’t be the one calling the shots from time to time?
