Ok. What features do you feel may be cut…in a game where all the features have already been created?

Can you give me a specific example on how a feature can be cut on a reskinned game where features aren’t even being created/added?

In the industry we have what’s called a minimum viable product (MVP) first you’re assuming they’re able to hit their internal MVP date. This likely won’t happen. Their internal date has probably already moved a couple of times which is why externally we only see " some time in 2019".

You’re request isn’t feasible. Nobody outside the designers and developers know what features are planned. How many are pri 1 must, pri 1 like, etc… but as a developer at a FAANG company with 15 years of experience things will be cut and dates will move.

Wow, I just rolled my eyes so hard that I sprained them. Whether someone pre-orders a video game with their discretionary funds is not at all a “social problem”. The “social problem” is people like you thinking that they have a say in it.

I don’t care how financially independent you claim to be, what Reddit sites you visit (LOL, like visiting a Reddit site is some important claim), or how financially smart you think you are, how I - or anyone else for that matter -spends discretionary funds is not in any way, shape, or form, your business.

Its not feasible they are going to cut features that are already in the game. No features have to be created. They already exist.

You said a ton of words without ever addressing or backing up any of your statements.

I don’t care about making up assumptions about date push backs. You brought up features may be cut.

I am asking how that is even remotely possible, when zero features are being created. 100% of all features are already made. There is nothing to cut because they didn’t have time to make it.

No features of WC3 are planned.

All they are doing is reskinning things already there. Until I can be shown otherwise, I have no reason to think any additional features are being created.

Oh is that it? Seems like it should be out by now then.

I love hearing “all you need to do is”, “you just need to” or “it should be easy” from people who aren’t software engineers.

Again, you cannot say there aren’t any features planned because you don’t know…

They are still working on the “reskinn” process.

They have given zero indication any new features are being added to the game. They have all but gone out of their way to say that they are just reskinning it.

I didn’t think this is that hard of a concept to understand.

While they aren’t working on new features, they are still working on the “reskin” format.

I generally don’t pre-order games UNLESS I know I’m gonna play them. I got a Steam account FULL of games I haven’t even touched. Not gonna mention my GoG account. :grinning:

Not to mention to rev up the game engine to work with current pcs and such.
Try shoving an OLD CD-rom into your current system (IF it still has a disc drive)
It prolly wont work unless you do some mods to the files.

What do you mean? old games like wc3 are very unlikely to still work on todays pcs. That’s what I meant. They don’t just have to reskin the graphics, but also update the game engine.

lol, Windows Compatibility mode, and there is always DosBox. GoG bundles oldgames with DosBox.

Nah, I’m excited to play it in Linux (where I play Wow and FFxiV)

Plus that meat wagon mount, which I’ve used maybe twice (it is rather large and unwieldy.)

You simply don’t understand software engineering.

You can’t just take 17 year old code and compile it with the latest version of Clang. There’s a feature.

DirectX was at what version 8 around 2002. That will have to be updated. There’s another feature.

Who knows what they used for the network stack, probably Winsock TCP/IP for chat and UDP for everything else. There’s another feature.

The entire chat system will have to be updated to work with Battlenet. There’s a feature.

Starting to make sense now?
