Friend trying to re-up after at least four months of no sub, told he needs to show ID

Any info on why this would happen? He has the phone number and email of the account he’s trying to put time on.

That is VERY odd. The purchase system should never ask for ID. Is he using the Blizzard store?

Now, if he is trying to access an account that he has lost the password to, or needs help getting into, then he will need to provide proof he is the account holder - via ID. Blizzard support agents won’t grant access to an account without proof.

Do you know where it is asking your friend for an ID? As Mirasol mentioned, the subscription system shouldn’t be asking but if the account had to be locked due to a compromise, we may require ID verification in order to unlock it.

If you can give me a character name/realm for your friend I might be able to take a look.
