Hello everyone, Vanilla WoW - Wrath player here. Did TBC Content 10x on different private servers.
TBC will be quite different than Fresh Classic because of the following:
Everyone has full knowledge of how and what to prepare to maximize efficiency as soon as they step into Outland. It’s not the knowledge of what’s coming that’s the issue, it’s the egregious amount of gold being transferable that will severely impact the economy and experience of TBC. Not only gold but hoards of mats and resources prepped for professions among other things that will again severely impact the overall journey through Outland content.
In original TBC there was definitely gold being transferred BUT nothing remotely comparable to what’s happening now coupled with no one having any idea of which resources would be relevant for TBC progression. Not to mention the amount of gold selling botters who can just roll over into TBC which is another layer of significant impact.
Fresh is the best way to counter these real issues that make it fair, balanced, and most authentic.
Please Blizzard, make several new servers available upon launch even if you decide to force current servers to progress into TBC. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Edit - I’d like to add that having both options available upon launch: forced progression into TBC for existing servers AND adding several new servers, was what they implemented for the original launch of TBC.
I’m glad someone here gets it. There’s not too many people here who advocate for BOTH types of servers. People tend to argue that it MUST be ONE or the OTHER. Either continuation into TBC or fresh.
There’s possibly a chance we will see a fresh server or two that won’t have transferred ability.
TBC is still far off possibly 2nd Quarter or so. You still have every chance to reach 60 and prepare for your epic flying only you are holding yourself back
I don’t know about that. We’d be going 1-60 in content we’ve all done before, and losing the progress on our characters. The option for a fresh start should be there, but not mandatory.
I refer you to the post you’re replying to: “Please Blizzard, make several new servers available upon launch even if you decide to force current servers to progress into TBC.”
No, but that’s pretty minor all things considered compared to all the things players have spent countless hours getting - Scarab Lord and R14 in particular.
He could have bought gold, but it’s very possible that he made it other ways. Many players have Mage alts that they can AoE farm with, and also sell boosts, which are quite lucrative.
This won’t matter as the same thing will happen in TBC anyway.
This would be hard to pull off but if at all possible I think the best solution would be to keep our characters but create a limit on goods you can have going through the portal. Raw gold, and put a gold equivalency to high cost items like a flask is worth 150g, black lotus worth 100, mooncloth worth 15g. If you have more than a set cap (let’s say like 10k gold) you can’t enter. Sounds like something that can be exploited and worked around but it would help when compared to doing nothing. I wouldn’t be 100% opposed to a fresh start but I worked hard to get rank 13 on two guys mainly for the title
Cool. Doesn’t change the fact they spent a long time grinding. Doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve to keep it.
Nice theories, but this isn’t entirely true. I know several in my guild alone who made all their gold legitimately and still use GDKP to make gold. They go there, put in their minimum, don’t bid on anything (as they’re largely BiS) and take home some gold - more if a high value item drops.
Again, this sounds like you were lazy and didn’t really feel like earning anything (and it’s probably not entirely wrong if I’m just judging your character’s avatar) and don’t think those that did don’t deserve to keep it.
Then why did they implement new servers during the original launch? I personally rolled on a new server when TBC launched. I’m advising for BOTH avenues, why are people constantly saying one or the other, they had BOTH during OG TBC.
