The best thing about new servers all the time is that new players get to relive it from the start.
so many I have met say “i joined in X expansion, i never played fresh”
This is their chance.

@Blizz here’s an easy break down.
People who want fresh servers : Players who actually play WoW
People who don’t want fresh servers : gold buyers (lmao)
From a business perspective, Blizz should make fresh servers. End of discussion
That could work only to a degree. Then you could also make fresh alts and pretend your starting over too.
I feel divisions in expansions could work.
Classic 1-60 only servers
TBC only servers
Wotlk only servers
Cata only servers
And so forth.
And they can never get a new expansion cause that would interfere with the server divisions. Why add TBC expansion to a classic 1-60 only server makes no sense.
my shaman has 40g total. i am against an endless loop of fresh. no amount of new servers without proper moderation will keep people from buying gold to skip doing the things they don’t want to do. the people who are buying the gold now will buy it again on any fresh server that comes into play.
yea exactly. It really is so cut and dry. it makes money and people want it.
Totally agree with your post. Back in October when TBC and Fresh were just speculations, I posted what I thought would be the best way to address concerns of various communities of this game and please as many players as possible without interfering with the way they want to enjoy their game (here is the post - A fresh idea for fresh servers and future of Classic WoW).
Unfortunately, my post did not gather much attention but it basically proposed that Classic, TBC, and Wrath should have their own ‘Museum’ or as they now call them ‘Era’ servers, as well as fresh servers starting at the same time each 18 or so months with an option of starting fresh or progression at the end of each cycle. While technically challenging, this could have been the best way to cater for as many different communities as possible, where players returning to the game or wanting to start fresh can choose what expansion they want to begin in or progress their character to the next step.
I like the sound of that dude. There will always be people wanting to start again on a certain expansion. Why not have a reoccuring set of servers.
if the servers eventually merged into existing servers that would disrupt existing communities. if they didn’t and just disappeared all the time what would be gained? what would people besides pserver people gain from playing on them? you saw the crying when server transfers were released and how a lot of people said it ruined server communities. and that’s the big main reason a lot of even retail people came to classic. so it would make the main appeal of classic non existent.
That’s an awesome post. Just read through it and replied. I’m surprised it didn’t gain much traction, but maybe now it will.
Yea, I don’t see anything wrong with this either. A set of servers that are permanant and a set of servers that are fresh.
This MMO is one of the greatest of all time. People still want to play it 15 and maybe 20 ?? years later. I hope so. This game could stand the test of time itself if handled in a way that is always reFRESHing itself haha
The power of recycling.
except people would be forced to reroll constantly indefinitely, ruin server communities, or the 3rd option is the worst… be forced to transfer to classic forever realms from their fresh realms if they decide they want to stay in classic indefinitely and not go to more expansions. in the lifetime of classic so far people have leveled how any toons? some have 6+ 60s. if everyone else but those people abandoned a server and it wasn’t merged. how much does that cost them to move the characters to a standard classic realm? people aren’t thinking long term. and then ignoring when i point out what will actually happen. most people don’t want to reroll constantly doing the same thing 348759348759345 times.
I would love fresh classic vanilla servers or the seasonal idea that was suggested. I was watching blizzcon hoping they’d give fresh response and was sadden when they kept quiet about it.
Yea exactly man Its a simple idea but it works!
Potentially but from what I understand based on the Private Servers experience, most people can only play at the end of the cycle for so long before they either want to progress or start fresh, so those existing communities would be minimal in numbers. The reason why I suggested the name ‘Museum’ for servers that don’t progress is exactly that, that it will be just a place to log in, check out what you have amassed and move on. On the other hand, the good thing about merging the servers at the end of the cycle is that it would bring a new influx of players to the community that wants to play their characters indefinitely after end cycle.
Server transfers in Classic made people upset because it disrupted the faction balance on the PVP servers. I don’t play on PVP servers for that reason alone - faction imbalance. Not everyone wants to get murdered over and over again while trying to quest or make his way to the dungeon. You want world PVP? Just flag yourself and go to the good-old Hillsbrad Foothills or something. Works on PVE servers too.
My dude, private servers have been doing just that for as long as the game has been out. The players keep re-rolling and keep playing and keep merging and re-rolling again. Yes, there is a risk of spreading the community too thin with fresh servers for each expansion but considering how many private servers are out there with healthy communities, the chance of Blizzard capturing those communities and brining them onto their servers is also high. If it doesn’t work… just shut them down but it would be worth a try.
people on pve servers exist as well. and they complained when everyone ended up on their server because it was 9387593753485 people who just randomly showed up and they no longer felt like they had any sense of community. the pvp server whining is what it is. there is a guild on ateish called “phase 2 refugees” that caused quite a bit of disruption. cuz you can, and people did, bring their toxic pvp server attitude to mostly peaceful pve realms.
I am the best tank in classic wow.
when private server people were talking pre-classic being released they were bragging about the high pops of those servers. which they themselves said were around 15k for each one they were on. what money will blizz make for this to be worth it for them even if they get the top 5 most populated classic servers to come pay for a retail version? even the OP used an example of 10k as if that’s some huge number. it’s essentially 2 classic servers worth of people with the post release larger servers.
Yeah, I don’t see how fresh servers would bring anything other than more profitability for Blizzard. The guy you’re arguing with though, has a level 25 shaman that he plans on doing AH stuff with so he feels fresh servers would ruin the population for his Classic Forever Era character. >_<
