Got another black screen lockup. DMP file still says it’s the nvlddmkm.sys driver but I don’t know how to fix it. I was also looking around in control panel and found this:

The 141 errors are TDR errors, which indicate that the video card stopped working (or was blocked by something). This could happen for several reasons, such as background apps, corrupted drivers, overheating or a deeper hardware problem with the video card. Considering everything you have already tried, this seems like a hardware issue. However, if you want to provide your MSinfo, we may be able to take a closer look. You can upload it through Pastebin and then paste the link here.
If you have issues pasting here, post the link with a space (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).
I was just in a live chat session with an Nvidia agent. They suggested enabling Debug Mode in the Nvidia Control Panel and adjusting a few settings.
Unfortunately WoW crashed as usual, but this time WinDbg was launched as a “postmortem debugger.” I don’t know how to access this for later reference so I am keeping it open as long as I can.
Unfortunately that WinDbg isn’t something we can really use or analyze. I looked over that MSinfo you provided though and it appears that the Nvidia software is crashing and your computer is getting 0x1000007E Bluescreen errors. These aren’t something we can assist with either as they indicate a deeper problem outside our support. You can read about this here. At this point, continuing troubleshooting with Nvidia or Microsoft would be the best thing to do. Alternatively, you can try contacting a local PC tech who can take a closer look at the computer.
I figured as much, but I will keep updating this thread with new information I come across should it be useful to anyone else experiencing this Light-forsaken issue.
I am currently going back and forth with Nvidia and will share any info I can.
Any info you provide will be greatly appreciated. I’m having the same issues, despite 4K GPU benchmarks not producing any stability issues, even after running for over an hour.
I’m able to get around all the crashing by turning particles off, locking to 60 FPS, and setting resolution scale to 67% (downscales it to 1440p from 4K for me). The game looks awful like this.
I’ve turned every setting as low as it can go and it doesn’t make any difference in my case.
I have absolutely no idea what’s wrong with my system and it’s driving me crazy. I thought I was getting close to finding out but I’m just back at square one.
So far all the troubleshooting steps Nvidia has suggested I try have not worked out. I’ve just been notified that they’re escalating my case to their level 2 tech support and try to replicate my issue (which I doubt they can, this seems pretty unique)
The last thing they suggested before this, if anyone wants to try, is to set your TDR value to 8 instead of 2.
"Increasing the default TDR setting to 8 seconds gives the graphics card longer to complete its task. How to do that:
Open registry editor…run > regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers.
In the box to the right you may or may not see TdrDelay with a data value of (2). If you see that, double click and change the value from (2) to (8). If you don’t see TdrDelay…right click on a open space and create a new Qword and name it TdrDelay . Double click that and set a value of 8. "
So for my last update to this thread, I will be as brief as I can.
The higher-level tech support at Nvidia were unable to replicate my issue in their test lab, which led them to believe it was specific to my config. As such, they were unable to find the culprit and ultimately could not assist me any further.
So I bit the bullet and bought a new CPU (Ryzen 5 3600). No issues so far after multiple hours of WoW, but I’ll put in as many hours as possible to see what happens. If this still doesn’t fix my system, I’m just gonna buy a whole new one.
