Consider the fact that the not “significant queue” is with layering on. What do you imagine would happen to that not significant queue if they were to suddenly collapse the layers and have everyone all together?
Yes Please!
Bloodsail is severely overpopulated and we have no option for transfers/rerolls.
We need another RP server
I don’t understand why people keep saying stuff like this.
You believe that some how the queue will INCREASE once they removing layering?
What makes you so sure?
Why would the population cap change?
Where was this said?
How do you know there is 15k people on the realms, specifically?
Link what I must have missed please and thanks!
Removing layering will not affect the queue but it will totally affect gathering mats and skilling up engineering and mining and even getting into instances …meanwhile on my nice low pop server i can farm all the high level mats and my guild can gear up easier than servers w queues…and then we exploit that with our premade cross server bgs…cause mvp you know cross server bgs were in 1.12…i mean come on low pop mining and engineering is a dream to be used in the x server bgs
people are just guessing based off of a forbes interview where ion said the vanilla servers were 3k or 4k a pop and another source that said the classic servers were either 3 or 4 times greater in capacity. its all guessing.
There was also a capacity increase at some point to address the queues.
Can someone actually cite blizzard stating that with layering on, server total cap is not larger than it will be once layers go away? The entire point of layering, as originally sold to the playerbase, was to temporarily account for tourists that would be leaving after a certain period of time (prior to phase 2). In what way does that NOT indicate that total server cap is not higher while layering is on?
honestly we don’t know whats going to happen with layering off. if we’re in 3k layers now, i wonder what server stability will be like the first time a streamer decides to host a large event on a server thats at capacity.
layering isn’t just a product feature to improve quality of life, its to keep latency and perf down iirc
There is nothing to cite on either end of the discussion.
The way it was presented to me it was just to prevent the entire server from all being in the starting zones.
No where was it ever stated that layering was meant to create 3-4x servers within one.
You are correct sir. Layering was just to prevent having thousands of players in the starter zones in the same plain. Nothing was gonna get done if 1000 players need to kill one specific mob, FPS drops would’ve been real and ppl would just be lagging all over. Layering will be removed once the majority of the player base is spread out.
Are we going to get paid transfers available at some point? I changed from Herod during name reservation to Stalagg, which then filled up to Sulfuras which is now full and has a queue. I am not interested in rerolling at this point or being pigeon-holed into the ‘choice’ of transferring to a server of Blizz’s choosing.
I would consider transferring if they could reassure people that there will be paid transfers available so I know i could end up on a server that I actually chose at some point.
Won’t paid transfers exacerbate imbalanced server populations?
Players aren’t exactly known for prioritizing realm balance when they move around.
That’s why Blizzard needs to direct traffic with these free transfers.
Blizzard, please let me transfer to heartseeker from Kromkrush so I can play with my friends! I rerolled once, dont make me do it again!
I don’t know if its intentional, but there is definately something wonky going on with respawns. Sometimes you can chain kill the same mob over and over and over.
It’s funny, in a way. Here we are, probably 20+ years since MMO’s have been out and we’re still having problems playing with friends because 2 or 3 groups of people have chosen to play on 2 or 3 servers. Now I realize this is part of the Vanilla Experience" and all, but when I think about it, I have some friends on a full pop server which I was playing on, and I have some friends on a med-high pop server, which at this point, I’d go to to avoid waiting 30 minutes a night to play. Except… that the only servers available for me to transfer to is one that no one I know is playing on so who’s going to do that? At the end of the day, MMO’s are really only fun if you play them with friends. Games rise and fall based upon “can I get my friends to come join me, and can I get them to join me on the same server”. As time progresses, friends are going to move on from the nostalgia that is classic towards the next shinny thing and people who want to remain are going to be looking around to play with friends. Making that easier will keep it alive, making it harder is likely to make this a flash in the pan.
Probably not helpful at all but if you end up having/wanting to reroll, I’d love to have a leveling buddy lol
Hopefully you’ll join us in Heartseeker!
Blizz has just, IMO, fixed the OCE issue. Allowing aggregation of triage overflow into one server has solved my problem. I can now finally play with my friends that were separated on different servers because of queues on days 1-7.
Problem solved as far as I’m concerned. All I wanted!
You’re clearly lowering pop caps already to stick people who had no queue yesterday with a queue to try to manipulate them into transferring with seemingly no care to the human issues you cause by doing this.
You think having no layering by phase 2 is more important than causing all sorts of problems for thousands of people.
In the end, people will recognize megaservers would have been a better solution than this circus.
Well, either players transfer now or they transfer later. (Or they wait in queues.)
It’s probably a lot harder to transfer later when players have established more connections with their realm’s community.
(Or Blizzard never removes layering and permanently increases the player cap.)
