maybe this is just for the rtx cards? i see other posts about lagging and freezing. i wonder if those are related?
I’m on a 3080 too and don’t experience this issue.
Been having the same issue since shadowlands launch after playing for some time, maybe minutes or hours. Have an HP Omen laptop with windows 10 pro, an RTX2070 with max q, 16gb RAM and i7 10th gen processor. Wow is on the SSD.
Saw that I have an error saying that wow.exe is in a deadlock, but it is present since the moment I launch the game.
Had to set a gaming mode to performance on the Omen command center so resources are correctly alocated between GPU and CPU.
This fixed the FPS issue, I mean, not really because they usually are between 130 and 200 and they suddenly drop to 60, but before, they dropped to 12/16 which made the game unplayable. Also had to restart the game if I wanted to keep playing bc they never went back to normal, now they do.
The problem with this change was that my CPU started reaching really high temps (above 90 °C) so also had to undervolt and disable turbo boost with throttlestop and now temps are 65° max.
Tried everything before with no luck like disabling addons, lowering settings (ray tracing was always disabled) updating all drivers, bios and windows, etc
I know this is not an ideal solution, def something changed since shadowlands, but at least I can play…
