Beyond the exploiting or possible telltale signs (flybotting, speedhacking, weird twitches of the character) you can usually only make a guess (like just because someone doesn’t respond when you say “respond if you’re not a bot”, doesn’t make them a bot, some people just don’t respond in game)
No. There’s always a crowd of players there on most servers, spamming aoe so when he suddenly spawns they’ll get the tag. And there are also afkers there.
Hey OP, just curious, but how many bots are there and do they turn on a dime? Like when they walk it’s never a smooth turn, but instead a very robotic turn. Also, do they retrace their steps perfectly?
Screenshots wouldnt be very helpful for blizz so probably no. A video of bot behavior wouldve been helpful though and you couldve made a ticket to get that video into blizzards hands.
I can usually tell by the movement patterns. One example i have of seeing a bot was watching a guy while leveling. He was making sharp turns at very precise moments just to follow the road to quest givers. A non-bot wouldnt go out of their way to follow roads to pickup quests when they are like 5 feet from each other. That is a rather obvious bot.
You would have to sit down and watch them for a good 5 minutes. Look at their path. Is it a perfect path they travel every time? Any jerky turns or strange movements, how often do they pick up loot, how often do they vendor it on their mount?
Whisper them. Do they whisper back something strange? Was that whisper instant?
If any of it looks suspicious, use the in game report features and blizzard would get the final say.
Also, if you’re in Orgrimmar and you see a level 1 orc hunter jumping up and down forever in front of the auction house, please report them. Im so tired of seeing that.
Just report and move along, realize though it can take a long time possibly even a year or more before they do anything as they like to do it in waves.
If that were the only criteria, I would have been banned years ago.
You can’t judge someone a bot after 5 minutes unless they’re doing something like flyhacking. People are perfectly capable of hitting all of the criteria you listed over the span of a few hours before they get bored (or get what they were looking for) and stop.
Though, either way, it doesn’t hurt to report them to Blizzard just in case. If they aren’t botting then they’ll be fine. Heck, outside of a GM whispering them they won’t even know they got reported anyway.
I get msgs all the time when I multibox, then players start telling me how they’re reporting me for botting. I rarely reply to randoms who think I’m botting. I let them think what they want to think. Sometimes when I do reply I say something that isn’t fitting to their comment or question.
I can’t see the logic in having a bot kill a mount-dropping boss, personally. Unless it some weird griefing thing to stop other people getting the mount, which seems a rather pointless thing to be doing with their game time.
However, if you reported them that’s all you can do. If you are after the mount, perhaps you can try on another server where these characters aren’t doing their strange thing.
If they do a ban wave… Then they have removed it. I did say remove didnt I?
By the time Blizz banned them, they would have enough gold to purchase way more Shadowland boost.
Their ban philosophy of waiting every year to do it is just flawed.
Not really.
Why you just want people to be banned?
Sometimes I use google translator for Chinese and post it in chat. Then I see them say something about me being a bot and I type, “not a bot … not a bo …” as I logout.
Same here. A lot of people think if you multibox you are botting.
I believe that if Huolon does drop the mount, that it would be mailed to you if you didn’t loot the corpse.
So some lazy individuals fire up a bot program to farm Huolon for them, then they check their mail every so often to see if they got the mount.
The ban waves are usually months apart…if you’re reporting the bot and then still seeing it every day for months, your approach would claim it’s not a bot, even though it is…
Is that lazy… or brilliant?
But then it would eventually be a ban. And your very short belief that it was not a bot would not matter at all.
