So I have played wow off and on since 2005. I recently came back to the forums looking for information on Shadowlands and I cannot at all figure out the forums anymore. It seems like I can make a new topic from the main forum page, but only on wow classic topics. I cannot make any topics anywhere else, and I cannot reply to a post already made to join a conversation. Am I crazy? I just don’t see the buttons anymore.
Most forums require a game subscription to post. (This one doesn’t.) If you have an active sub, sometimes logging out of the forums and back in will get it to register correctly.
I am not paying for a game until I know I actually want to play. It would help to be able to talk with the community in order to decide that. This seems very…socialist of Activision.
This is better than having tens thousands of people who don’t play the game overwhelming the forums. Some of the best sources for info are WoWhead, Icy Veins, and You tube, which has videos on all things WoW.

Support forums. such as this one, are available without paid time on an account. Being able to participate in the discussion forums, however, is a benefit of having paid time.
Between Reddit; fan sites like wowhead, mmo-champion, and icy-veins; Streamers; and Youtube; there are quite literally thousands of sources of information and discussion about SL.
