Forum progress and trust 3 lost?

((Oops this was initially written on my pandaren mage Kersia. Of course it posted under my druid because why wouldn’t it.))

I logged in tonight and my character progress is completely gone. I had: 132 days visited, 2d read time, 11hr recent read time, 1.2k topics viewed, 35k posts read, 223 hearts given, 315 hearts received, 26 topics created, 430 posts created. I am able to see all the stats by clicking on my profile from an old post.

I barely play the character in game, she is my primary roleplaying toon for the forums, and thought I would just take advantage of the sale to move her to my main guild. Just in case I decided to level her later in the expansion. Had I known all that effort and progress was going to be wiped (on top of all the issues trying to transfer her), I never would have done it.

Is this something temporary or fixable? Why is there no warning if it isn’t? It seems like a stab in the back to work on getting and maintaining trust level 3 just to lose it like that. It was difficult enough to obtain it as I almost exclusively post to the world’s end tavern.

On top of it all I cannot edit my posts! Holy crap this sucks. I have a large post that was to catalog all my stories and character arcs that I edit to adjust links, new art work, etc, all posted as Kersia.

All of my characters I transferred from Wyrmrest Accord to Whisperwind were impacted: Kersia, Mortre (now Mortrexia), Sylstyx, and Tolbyas. My race changed Vynianyx did not get impacted. I did the transfers early March and it just now reflected on the forums. Though that could be because I logged out of my account to test something else and logged back in.

I read, and this could be wrong, but at least try it.

Trust is attached to the toon name and rwalm. Create a toon in the old realm with the name your TL3 toon was and see if it maintains the post count etc.

Make it the same class, race etc. Curious if this still works. Can’t hurt to try.

That sounded just stupid enough to work… and it did. Still, horribly inconvenient but fortunately the class trials seem able to post on the forums and their intro thing is pretty quick if you skip the battle. Achievement points aren’t accurate but I could care less about those at least.

Thanks for the quick fix.

It’s weird for sure, but it was neccesary to 1) allow for the multiple posting characters unique to WOW and, 2) to get the new forums up and running.

Good news it that the web team is looking to make things more account-level like how it used to be. Hopefully it comes sooner™ rather than later!

Yeah u know it sounded silly. U remember somebody else with the issue around the time Zandalari came out.

Just glad it fixed the issue. As Leviathan said, they are working on uniting posting to the account, so all toons. However it is a unique limitation to WoW so we can post as our toons. All the other forums use bnet I’d.

Right, it was just flustering how it didn’t move with the character. I don’t mind it being separated per character, but that it doesn’t travel with said character. Oh well, patchwerk fix at least

This actually happened to me as well but it was under different circumstances; I had deleted this toon I’m posting on and had met all the requirements for the forums but I deleted this toon on my realm (My Mistake) and someone else created a toon on the same realm with the name I had deleted and it gave them all of my forum progress.
I reported it on the Website Bug Report Forum and noticed that the other created character had been deleted and I immediately recreated one with that name and it automatically gave me my forum progress back.

Wow… that’s convoluted.

I know the team is constantly working on it, but I wish the’d push some QoL before some of the bug fixes.

Like progress and names on the forums and an ignore feature being the top 2.

Interesting. I explained before on this forum that it is tied to character name-server here:

But wasn’t sure if any account identifiers also played a part. If someone else’s account can get your stats by making a character with the same name, then it must not be tied to an account at all. I wonder how forum account actions work for preventing trust 3 then, if any account can claim forum stats just by making a character with that name.
