I think the bigger issue is why they would still be undead or pushed to the forsaken like Derek, thought they would return more among the living.
The entire religious order of the Forsaken is not a single NPC.
It has nothing to do with vision and everything to do with a circus
Neither is Blizzard. See Sir Zeliek, an undead Paladin in vanilla.
Only if you donât know their historyâŚ
Yeah but this one guy is.
Every time he used the Light it caused intense agony. Furthermore he was forced to do that by the Lich King.
" Yes, there are examples of paladins who have been corrupted by shadow or the Lightâs opposite, most notably Arthas Menethil, who became the Lich King and a major wielder of death magic. Other instances include characters who embraced the shadow for power, though this is antithetical to the traditional definition of a paladin as a servant of the Holy Light"
I can list more.
The undead Scarlettâs in the Eastern Plaugelands donât even realize their undead, and use the light just fine.
I doubt theyâd remain oblivious is they were in âintense agonyâ.
You probably could, but all of them would be characters within the world, which makes none of their points of view more valid than the actual real world writers who get to decide whether or not itâs possible.
Priests are not as close to the light as paladins since void priests exist.
It would not make sense for undead paladins to exist, but undead can share void knight class with void elves.
Paladins are not as close to the light as priests because they took time off of priest class to learn how to knock skulls together.
If we can accept that Pandaâs are a race then forsaken paladins are not that badâŚitâs not that big a deal
You claim it is a single NPC philosophyâŚ
Dark Cleric Beryl Quote:
âIt speaks of Forsaken being âforged in corruptionâ and left to decay â this is similar to âthe Light has left us,â or that they have been abandoned.â
Absolutely nonsense! This is your way of twisting the truth to try and prove that you are correct.
Again. Thatâs a person in universe, whoâs point of view is limited to what the writers want them to say.
There is no number of in-universe quotes that can change the fact that the out-of-universe writers think itâs a stupid argument, or the fact that theyâre made actual undead paladin in the game numerous times.
You are pitting Gandolf against Tolkien. Itâs a losing battle.
I donât think Zeliek is a good example of why Undead Paladins should be a thing. He is the exception not the rule.
But my point was more that Blizzard are very inconsistent with the lore. They change their mind on⌠everything, on a yearly basis. Remember when Elune was hinted at being a Light lord or possible the creator of the entire setting? And then she turned out to be the Winter Queenâs sister, and even that is suspect now.
Either way. If Blizzard want Undead Paladins to be a thing they are going to use the new âLightforged Undeadâ (just the fact those exist should tell you how much Blizzard care about the lore) rather than the old Lich king created Forsaken undead.
If paladins are closer to the light then priests, why do priests get to mass resurrect people while paladins canât?
Telling a whole army of corpses they are not dismissed and getting them back on their feet immediately feels a lot more like a greater connection to the light than knowing how to swing a hammer.
farts really hard
anyone else smell that?
Because Blizz subscribes to the god awful worldbuilding philosophy of âLore should not tie the hands of creatives.â Which I could rant about endlessly your argument is in vain. They allowed for lightforged and magâhar warlocks with flimsy justification for the Lightforged and I donât even know if they said anything for Magâhar.
Likewise, no race should ever really get DH again because the DHâs mission is done and it is a grueling process were most die to become one. Like the Illidari would probably be against actually sharing their methods but weâre getting a velf DH.
Blizzard will never care about lore. Iâd say they have a seething hatred of the concept of a coherent world with sensible rationale and limitations.
That is why forsaken paladins will likely happen. Because nothing matters.
