I’m trying to get things straight in my head. Warcraft Forever = no housing, Right? If I wanna enjoy my house I must be in Retail, is that right?
Yes… unless you like having separate decor, house levels, and no endeavors.
So there IS housing in Warcraft Forever?
We’ll know by next week(s) when the beta comes.
Oh, okay. More waiting…
Thank you.
You’d have to run, run, run to your neighborhood.
I didn’t see any mention of housing in the Forever panels at Blizzcon. And I doubt that Forever would have housing given it wasn’t a feature in Vanilla/Classic.
I can’t imagine collecting decor on a Forever budget. It can’t be in that game.
I could update my reply to clarify… but I’m going to let chaos ensue.
I was thinking the same thing. Ian was so thrilled about housing before Midnights launch. Come Home. RPers seem to love it, but, now comes Forever. I think Forever will gut retail. I wonder what RPers will do; stay in retail for the housing or go to RP Forever.
I have so many specific questions about Forever. Like, will I be hunted again? Or will I not be hunted? Is there gonna be faction tagging? I super-duper hate hate hate the faction war and fights. I do not wish to fight a player simply because they are the opposite faction, I do not want to fight them for herbs, ore, fish, mobs, you name it.
And housing. I have spent a lot of time/gold to make my retail plot and house a safe place to rest up. Is there gonna be a safe place in Forever? I want to have answers before I invest time and possibly money in the game.
I doubt it will be there, at least in the beginning, they don’t want to split the playerbase so soon. It will probably get added a few years in when they have enough content to farm and repeat activities for decor once it drops in MAU.
Not to be dense, I am genuinely asking: what is MAU?
Monthly Active Users.
Thanks. I learn something almost every day. ![]()
I mean, it didn’t have Xmog and Collections either. But apparently Forever will have those.
Pretty sure the same thing was said when Classic first launched. I think people overestimate the appeal of the “auto-attack until it’s dead” playstyle from Vanilla, once the novelty wears off.
A problem with housing in Forever would be the current implementation of actually collecting decor. Both from a “where’s all this stuff going to come from” perspective as well as “what sort of currencies is it going to cost.” Retail has 20 years worth of content to pull from, and a decade+ of expansion-specific currencies to charge for it.
Then there’s the fact that a lot of people will be dead-set against the modern art style that would be used (if the blue elves are any indication), just on principle.
I’m not saying these are insurmountable issues, or that they couldn’t change the design philosophy, but it is stuff that would have to be worked on.
Fair point but there’s a caveat.
We sorta did have those things in Vanilla, it just took up a lot of bag and bank space.
I had a couple of complete sets of gear that were of no use at level 60 but I kept them because they looked cool. And we had pets. You were just limited to what you could realistically collect because of limited bank space.
All the collections system will do is move those items out of our bank space (like the keyring did for dungeon keys).
Housing on the other didn’t exist at all in Vanilla.
There’s no housing in beta.
While I’m sad there’s no housing in Forever I would be happy if completing achievements in Forever unlocked furniture for Retail. Then you can buy copies for gold off an NPC if you need them.
