For those who took work off

I don’t take days off for content patches. Just new expansion releases. You can’t get flying until next week anyway, and I’m not so jazzed about Korthia that I’m like, oh man, I’ve GOTTA spend all day there and in the new Torghast!

I can only imagine minimum wage renters taking today off

Sure, if were talking about like going somewhere for hours at a time, like a mall or other town, or going to somewhere fun or something, like for a swim, spa, go to the zoo to see animals, see a ball game where it’s pretty much an excuse for people to get medieval while having ads shoved in your face regardless, i personally see it justifiable.

Video games, i just see as the entertainment you constantly and always have available at your fingertips, much like TV and music. I don’t personally see binge-watching/listening/playing as something on the same justification level as i’ve listed above.

Though to each’s own.

I think I was hype for every expansion from Vanilla through MoP. I don’t think I ever took time off for it. Maybe for BC? But I really can’t recall. That one was a really quality rollout from what I remember. Very few glitches.

I look forward to the coming patch though. Even if Korthia’s color pallet is a bit bland for my tastes. I like the creatures and the new mounts. And more story is always welcome.

Seriously though, i bet the number of people who took today off for the patch is ZERO.

I wont count people who dont have a job and are just mad they have to find something else to do for a few hours.

No, all the white knights are coming out in full force with straw mans so big you can host an entire dumb festival around it.

I’m sorry mr. paladin, I don’t exactly follow.

Are you saying I’m a white knight presenting a straw man? What part of this was a straw man?

Oh true you got me there

Sorry Blasatazzar, I am in agreeance with you and share the same sentiment in your post. My comment was toward OP, where he is trying to flame “all those who took work off today”.

Gotcha, no worries mate.

Like I said didn’t quite follow your comment lol so I wasn’t sure who exactly that was directed at.

You would think people would learn to NOT take off work for any launch, be it a patch or expansion. Rather take the NEXT day off.

Depends on the game.

The experience at launch for a new single-player RPG is going to be the same whether you experience it now or in a decade. In fact, given modern DLC practices, waiting to play the game generally means your experience later is only going to be better than what you would experience at launch.

The launch experience for MMOs (and subsequent expansions) is entirely unique. It’s time sensitive. You can’t experience the launch of, say, Cataclysm anymore. Sure, all the quests are there, the dungeons haven’t been removed, the raids still exist… but you’re never going to get that same experience again.

To some, that might be worth a vacation day or two. And I’ll always be the guy promoting people taking time off (legitimately). No one should work themselves into the grave, nor should their manner of leisure be judged.

Unless they took time off for 9.1.

I’ll judge them for that.

I am not on a dayoff today. There’s no new content right now. But I would be on dayoff next week.

I usually welcome new expansions… not much on new patch but if it has a lot of new content then I would also welcome them.

I usually need hours to enjoy the new exploration. Need to learn the game fast so I wont be left behind. And I have to progress fast as much as I can becoz when I come back to work, I would be on slow pace again.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen a single person say they’re hyped for 9.1. It’s either they’re already disappointed or they hate it.

Imagine taking off work to play a video game lol

It’s not wearing inappropriate gear, getting stat weights wrong, standing in fire, or using MMO terminology wrong that marks a WoW noob.

It’s this.

It’s taking work off on patch day.

It’s been a bad idea since at least BC, lmao.

Some people like to paint everyone disagreeing with them as being white knights. It’s probably insecurity on their part.

You havent seen us on Launch day of Wrath. Freaking stores have long line at midnight opening.

I love the event. I missed the days. We were already 5 levels higher when most players just log’d in the next day. The hardcore even reached max level in a day or two.

It’s the same experience or even better than when you watched Avengers End Game on the first hour of the screening.

This thread has more of a “I’m laughing at someone I’ve convinced myself is real” energy than a “I’m laughing at someone I know is real” energy.
