Sadly, there are some dinks out there who have this mindset,mind you a vocal minority these days but it is a thing. Ontop of the occasional edgelord troll trying to get some easy attention or likes from previous camp mentioned. Seems pretty silly for anyone to think only one group of people play video games when it’s a very popular medium of fun these days. Hell,back in the arcade days pre atari crash,there were a pretty equal ratio of both sexes playing games at the arcade,then the mentality that it was strictly a hobby for guys came due to bad marketing in the mid 80’s and 90’s. When the NES came to the states it was marketed as a toy back in the dreaded pink aisle [aka boring aisle] days of such shops so was obviously put on the “boys” aisle [the bad marketing mostly comes from tv commercials that were written by stoagie smoking,out of touch middle aged dudes in suits]. So yeh,there are some who still perceive this mentality for some god given reason despite mostly everyone playing video games in this day and age [mobile does count,one can’t dismiss a medium because of personal taste,a bad game is still a game.]

Personally, I don’t care who is leading the raid, as long as their strategy is simple and actually works.
If you’re going to assume it’s because of you being a female, I find that a bit questionable and would rather hear things from another perspective. I’m actually kind of curious to know about your leadership quality in raids.

Sixty-five here. Been playing since Cata.
I’m in my 40’s, which proves nothing except I graduated college before I started playing MMOS, and I’ve met a few people my parents age or even a little older. They definitely exist, at least on RP servers. The person who first convinced me to play was a girl I knew from school.
It may come as a shock, but when I was young I used to play pen and paper RPGs with girls and older people as well, so there’s actually a rich tradition if anything.
Dang it hasnt helped me. I am more demented now than when I started.

I, a 30 something female, play. My 71 year old dad introduced me to Vanilla years ago.

I would say the time things changed was late 70s early 80s. My brother and his friends grew up before gaming really started and their idea was anyone gaming was a “bookworm” Or worse that I cant say here and liked to beat us up. A few years can make a huge difference. Like in music where I have seen 3 year gap cause people to go from disco (mid late 70s) to country (late 70s early 80s) to metal (early to mid 80s) to rap (mid to late 80s) as each was the popular music at the time.
Many of the gamers I knew then also did pen and paper and focused more on RPGs (computer) than action games (consoles) - and for me those distinctions still exist. Kinda like how computer and console gamers view phone gamers today.
