Please update Ogrimmar, but it still needs to feel “tribal” and “rugged” keep the Kalimdor theme, that doesn’t mean dirt hovels and tumbleweeds. Would love to see a port added, would only make sense at this point. Just please no more mile long twisting and turning runs to simple things.
If you want to mourn over Garrosh and be in awe of his strength you can go to AU Nagrand and check out the strong rock hand holding his crushed body for all to see, very good spot for the Selfie Cam. No need to use an outdated building in Ogrimmar that contains enough phased NPCs in it to crash a PC as a mourning ground over him.
They should honestly just revert some of the changes they’d already made.
I don’t care if Varian has been dead since Legion and Thrall hasn’t been the warchief for years, it canonically makes no sense at all for death knights leaving the Scarlet Enclave for the first time (while Arthas is still active) to meet Anduin and Saurfang (or Garrosh/Vol’jin for that matter).
While we’re at it, a phased version of pre-Cata Org and SW for this quest would be nice as well.
Players who actually care about the story shouldn’t have to look up the original version of this quest being played on Youtube just to know what’s actually happening because Blizz thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to the current leader or representative of your faction at a time when that doesn’t even make sense.
A new player would probably come out of these quests thinking that Anduin was the king and that Garrosh’s Orgrimmar had already been built at the time of the war against the Lich King due to how misleading it’s currently portrayed.
Honestly, I look at the dump that is called ‘Orgrimmar’ and I honestly think to myself:
“Man, Jaina tsunami’ing this $#!%hole would’ve been an upgrade …”
I’d love if the Cataclysm awakening life in the Barrens, followed by the ‘reawakening’ of Azeroth and the brimming life energies were to cause a flourishing overgrowth on a MASSIVE scale that bulldozed through Durotar, Northern Barrens and Orgrimmar on a scale that makes it akin to Goregrond – Give the orcs a long-lost sense of homeage to their homeworld
You could argue they had both alternate Draenor AND Outland flora seeds, in a storage of Orgrimmar that caught wind of the celestial energies and burst forth all over their region.
Get some elemental lords awaken there too with the energies that awakened or freed them from their ancient prisons by the titans and spark us off with some cool new stories.
Orgrimmar has the best potential out of every city to really reinvent itself with an upgrade. Especially considering its Cata revamp that’s stayed since then hasn’t exactly been the most popular. Remove all the metal spikes, we need a city not a military base. blow out the eastern cliffs and finally build that big port and industrial center that’s been teased. Go full diesel punk with a grimrail train that runs throughout Horde Territory from Orgrimmar. open up the underhold to the main Kalimdor map with elevators throughout the city that take you to and from sections of the underhold. Revamp the skyway with new Horde Airships. All things to make it look like Orgimmar is the beating heart of a massive empire.
What you will get is World of Alliancecraft in Orgrimmar. Standard plot they always use.
A problem will threaten the world. Alliance characters will show up. They, and the PC, solve the problem, take in local color, and teach the locals the error of their ways.
I completely agree. Orgrimmar doesn’t just look outdated anymore, it feels outdated. One thing I actually loved about Cataclysm was that you could immediately tell who was leading the Horde. Thrall’s Orgrimmar and Garrosh’s Orgrimmar felt different. The city itself reflected the story and the philosophy of its Warchief. That’s good worldbuilding.
Now the Horde has changed more than ever, yet the capital barely has. We’ve added Mag’har, Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, Zandalari, Vulpera and more, but most of them still feel like visitors instead of races that helped shape the modern Horde.
Expand Orgrimmar instead of replacing it. Keep it unmistakably Orc at its core, but let every Horde race leave its mark with proper districts, architecture, culture and military presence. Let the city actually feel alive and show how the Horde has evolved over the years.
And if Blizzard insists on keeping the Horde Council, then give them an actual council hall. Right now it barely feels like the Horde even has a government. The capital should tell the story of today’s Horde, just like Cataclysm Orgrimmar told the story of Garrosh’s Horde.
They can expand the city, bring graphics up to speed, make the city more dense for both the buildings and NPCs, introduce a proper harbor, update the who’s who of NPCs so we aren’t stuck in a cata-mop era city with regards to the npcs, etc.
Nonsense, TLT will introduce Neo-Dalaran because god forbid Blizzard actually lets go of nostalgia baiting and properly pushes the setting forward instead of relying on RTS-era and Vanilla-Wrath era nostalgia to keep the game alive.
No, that’s garish and an extreme whiplash with regards to consistant aesthetics. Racial capitals need to reflect the race they’re meant to represent. We don’t need elven architecture in a brutalist orc city. Same thing for things like Tauren Teepees, Troll huts and crappy Goblin architecture where leaking oil barrels and electrical doodads are everywhere.
Just make Orgrimmar bigger, give it a graphical update and add verticality to it. Orgrimmar needs to stay majority/all Orcish.
I agree that Orgrimmar should remain an Orc city. I never argued otherwise.
My point is that it’s also the capital of the Horde. The Horde today isn’t the Horde of Cataclysm anymore. Mag’har, Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, Zandalari and Vulpera aren’t temporary guests anymore. They’ve fought for the Horde, defended Orgrimmar and helped shape the modern Horde.
I’m not asking Blizzard to turn Orgrimmar into Silvermoon. I’m asking them to let the capital reflect the Horde that actually exists today while still remaining unmistakably Orc.
Making Orgrimmar bigger is exactly what I want too. I just don’t think that should only mean “more Orc buildings.”
Stormwind is still unmistakably Human despite having a Dwarven District. Ironforge is still unmistakably Dwarven despite having Gnomes. Neither city lost its identity.
I’m not talking about giant Nightborne palaces or Zandalari pyramids everywhere. Just enough architecture, NPCs and culture to show that the Horde has actually grown over the years while Orgrimmar still remains overwhelmingly Orc.
They are temporary guests, because is not their city
It an orc city, that should reflect the orc society, at best you get an embassy or a specific district to show them, which is exactly what we have so there is no need to change anything.
That literally cannot happen because “the horde that actually exist today” sh1T on orcs and make then take the backseat/erase them from the narrative
If you update the city its going to be a “diverse” city crap with barely any orcs in it
Like bro you know how blizzard works, come on.
why not?
When they did ilvermon they only added more elf buildings
Where is in silvermoon showing “the silvermoon that exist today”?
I don’t want Orgrimmar to stop being an Orc city. Orcs are my favorite race and they should always remain the heart of the city. The architecture, atmosphere and identity should stay overwhelmingly Orc. My point is that Orgrimmar is also the capital of the Horde. The Horde has changed massively since Cataclysm, while the city barely has. Right now it still feels frozen in the Garrosh era.
I actually like Cataclysm Orgrimmar a lot and I would genuinely miss it if it was replaced. But that doesn’t mean it should never evolve. Blizzard has already started moving back toward the older Horde style with more wood and stone instead of everything being covered in heavy metal. You can already see that with newer structures like the Dragon Isles zeppelin tower, which barely matches the rest of the city anymore.
I’m not asking for giant Nightborne palaces or Zandalari pyramids everywhere. I mean smaller cultural areas, updated Troll, Tauren and Goblin quarters, a better harbor, more NPCs from the modern Horde and maybe even some Mag’har engineering involved in expanding parts of the city. Enough to show that the Horde has grown while Orgrimmar still remains unmistakably Orc.
Would I like this to happen? Absolutely, but I also want it done properly. A wish is still a wish, even if I have very little faith in Blizzard’s current writers after years of sidelining the Horde and watering down so much of Warcraft’s identity. The art and music teams, and often the gameplay team, still deliver solid to excellent work. The writing is where most of my trust is gone. I want Orgrimmar updated. I just don’t want another part of Warcraft losing its soul in the process.
I know what you are trying to say, i know what you want to be, but we have to be realistic and understand that blizzard will screw this up like they did with other simpler things.
They cant make the city still be overwhelmingly orcish and make it a cosmopolitan city that reflect all other races, its physically impossible due to the nature of it and how many different races there are.
It really isnt impossible at all. The footprint cities can take up now is huge and having a small row or cluster of 3-5 buildings that are distinctly Durotar/Org styled yet have small architectural flairs that show it is another people’s take isn’t going to ruin your orkiness, especially since Org was never just orcs in the first place. The Valley of Spirits and its obviously troll development was there since day one. It’ll be okay.
Imagine that same large grey and brown stone they use in the buildings, maybe sanded/chiseled down to a smoother texture and placed into tighter spires replicating the style of some Blood Elf buildings, but retaining the same building materials. Hell, you can still stick some spikes on it and give it the same Orgrimmar Red roof rather then SMC’s, give it a chunky iron or bronze phoenix, and some magic braziers and boom, Org’s Blood Elf district. Call it pansy row for all I care, you can keep the theme of a city while including others very easily.
Now rinse and repeat for Forsaken, Pandaren, trolls, etc. Now maybe you import a few things directly from their homes. Some Loa alters direct from Dazaralor, wrought iron fencing from Lordearon, a big bell from Pandaria, but you can still keep the major “orky” themes
