For competitive players covenant is just another "bis"

Covenant benefits should NOT increase throughput.

Give us cosmetics, utility abilities, convenience features, and the ability to unlock new content via our choice of Covenant instead.

Covenant abilities increasing DPS/HPS force competitive players to look at them differently. Raid bosses have never in WoW history been more challenging, and the PvP pool has shrunk such that gaining even modest ratings has never been more frustrating.

Players WILL feel obliged to choose the Covenant that makes their character perform optimally in this environment, even if it goes against the Covenant faction they’d prefer based on flavor. Doesn’t take a genius to guess how this will make them feel about the system.

Don’t make the same mistake you made with BFA Blizzard. Don’t ignore player feedback this time. You do NOT know best.

Cosmetic-only covenants would be awesome. Throughput abilities are a huge mistake and a train wreck in the making.

Play the game YOUR way. If to you min/maxing and being in a cutting edge guild or group is what you desire then yes you will be stuck with a specific spec and a specific covenant. You will be free to be in other specs when not doing cutting edge content and you will still be very effective i am sure, but yes you will not be min/maxed in those specs.

To many the idea of min/maxing to the degree of what you are talking about is not important. They play with friends and if they can only get to +17 and not +18 then so be it, they are still having fun and happy. You just need to play the game ‘your’ way whichever way that is and make choices according to how you wish to play.

Oh so you’re a “hold grudges forever and call it realism” type pessimist. Gotcha.

I don’t have blind faith, but I do still assume positive intent on the part of the developers. Which is more than most unfortunately.

the fact you can’t switch covenants definitely sucks a lot, i have no clue why they would do this…

also if they want to be alt friendly…we need way more alt slots

yeah but having to role whole new character is just silly.

i can reset my talents, why not my covenant

For filthy casuals like me it’s vampires and bone wings.

Nope, i calls it as I sees it.

If new data presents itself, i can change viewpoint.

Aldor/Scyers. Wolvar/Oracles. Why is this a surprise? There is significant precedent.

Those didn’t have soulbind feature and active ability rewards, just gear and cosmetics, maybe a recipe.

For minmaxers, yes it could be a problem.

Me? I’ll choose my covenants thematically or as the whim takes me. Choice should hopefully matter so yes, I don’t want to see them easily swappable. Making that change should have consequences.

And for non raiders like myself I dont give a crap about your min/max choices and will be focusing on cosmetics and the other stuff.

i agree…they didn’t matter as much as these probably will sadly…
