I know you want to save the major housing stuff for the big patches… but I don’t know… it just feels wrong right now. I wasn’t expecting draenor levels of “this is your spot and you have all these cool things!” But I did expect more? I don’t know how to say it… it feels like you just added housing as a money making scheme on a very shaky foundation without an actual end goal. I mean, what is the ultimate goal of housing in these areas? Is it to feel like a house? If so, it doesn’t… exteriors not matching the interior, the plot being tiny, and having almost nothing of value to do in the house itself. I loved housing at the beginning but I haven’t bothered doing anything in the last month because it feels like a Robloxified housing game at this point.
it’s not even 12.1.0 bro ![]()
but also
does he know?
We’ve received new decor items in 12.0.5 and there’s more in 12.0.7.
As you said, they will do bigger housing updates with each major patch. I believe they said 10 housing levels with each major patch.
It’s far too early to be saying they let housing go when the first major patch of the expansion hasn’t even been put on the PTR, let alone released.
It surely is receiving the pet battles treatment right now.
They added a foundation but then only added more fluff, but no functionality whatsoever. Decor items feel like pets, that you collected, but the system that these pet´s were used in, never saw an update just like housing now.
They did not buff our chars, they did not help with gathering, professions or similar.
Housing is at the exact same stage right now, we have a house and many new decor items, but zero functionality or boni. While there might be that 0,1% that decorates it´s house every day from scratch, the majority doesn´t.
Our community is not interested in fluff, they want functionality and power. If that doesn´t come soon to housing, then the content is dead and will be abandoned by Blizzard soon, so my prediction.
Garrisons were better. At lest there I could make gold. Housing is boring as watching paint dry. I havent been to my house in a long long time
Housing should not give player power.
Its literally fluff. Thats all it should ever be.
Housing isnt supposed to give some player power functionality.
if housing becomes anything other than a cute player expression thing, then we fall into ffxiv’s nightmare of the housing system being full of bots and gold sellers
of course it’s worse there because there’s such limited housing, but if you want hyperinflation of wow’s economy then sure go nuts
people forget that a game can just be fun and nothing else
career wow players need their pcs confiscated by the government (True)
You’ll be waiting awhile. Blizzard made it very clear from the start (when they announced housing) that it would not have much functionality because they don’t want it to feel like a mandatory feature.
The first major patch of the expansion hasn’t even hit the PTR. Housiong has not been abandoned, we simply haven’t reached the first MAJOR CONTENT PATCH since its release.
We received more decor items in 12.0.5, and there’s more in 12.0.7 along with exterior lighting and more exterior decor placement budget.
I’ll share this post I made in March that people resonated with.
Earlier today, before your post, was announced on multiple gaming sites that -
Housing is getting a large patch in 12.0.7
Housing is getting hundreds of new decor
Housing is getting outdoor lighting
Housing is getting more than I am listing
Decor doesn’t do anything except make you decorate… outdoor lighting… for decorating… and nothing else. Literally nothing more than you listed.
Implementing housing takes time. Rift took about two years to get their features fully implemented. SWTOR was about three years before it felt fully finished.
See: Hearthsteel, $75 exteriors, and the stupid Zillow collab. Hit the nail on the head. Which is precisely why I want nothing to do with housing. It’s vapid and a blatant cash grab.
I am so grateful for that!!!
It’s not supposed to be a Garrison, it is not supposed to be a place of power for players. It’s just kinda Zen, it just is, and I am grateful for it.
Were you under some kind of delusion that your house was going to contribute to power? Despite literally every single source for the whole year leading up to release saying otherwise? Despite it very clearly being marketed as a cosmetic past time? I’m actually kind of flabbergasted, yet not surprised, to read stuff like this.
It doesn’t need to be a place of power at all… but it could have an anvil, or a tanning rack… or some reason to visit outside of I made a cool looking house and now I am going to destroy it and do it all over again.
They bit off more than they can chew, I can tell you that right now. They had this grand idea, but this 20 year old game cannot handle what they want to do. So we will be left with a buggy mess that can only recoup its investment through massive MTX.
The fact that there is such a low amount of outdoor decor, when I can load up Palia and have thousands of things outside in a FREE TO PLAY GAME that is less than TWENTY GIGABYTES.
It could, but for over a year every single source of information on housing said it would not have that
I think the current limitations to housing is all that is in the way to continue to be a fantastic feature added to the game. As of right now I had spent a TON of time decorating my home. Making and unmaking and remaking over and over to get it how I liked. With the limited space I have I am waiting until we can copy our rooms and paste it right back if possible before making more changes. It just takes so long to redo something and with the devs saying they are working on making these types of “blueprints” we can save our creations to, I will wait.
Until then my house is where I go to relax in game. It’s my space. And I love it.
Were people expecting massive mechanical changes to housing on the .5 patch?
i think they intentionally dont want it to be a capital city replacement.
i definitely feel like we are hitting “if you give a mouse a cookie” levels with housing.
housing gave people exactly what was asked for. and now its not enough. really brings us full circle back to the whole “you think you do, but you dont” meme.
being old/new isnt the issue. EverQuest has housing. And I like EQ’s housing more, its much more freeform. The issue is that WoW has a lot more going on outside of housing than Palia.
