This guy gets his crazy rant on the front page no problemo, but when I post about people being thin skinned OMGNOPEREPROTED. Not that I’m whinging, of course.
I would but unbelievably rare drops like the patterns for robes of the void are going for 25 gold lmao!!! Wtf?!!!
In vanilla that would go for 1000 gold! You would have to farm for weeks to buy those patterns!!!
GG!
You left out a few important things:
- not enough servers at launch;
It was clear this was going to be big, having so few servers was a fn joke - now we have a looming population disaster. They either keep the dumpster fire that is layering, or we go through all of this new servers/free transfers horror show again when they remove layering
As a side note, for people like me who want a low pop server (on pvp realms, low pop is the only way to find a mature community), this probably means releveling again because they won’t offer transfers from medium to new.
- Transfers + Exploits
Transfers deserves its own category, seperate from layering and over population, simply because its a jaw dropping mess. Particularly when combined with all the exploiting.
Fresh realms got dumped on, and guilds shattered.
The guild (and friend) issue doesn’t need explaining.
The exploit issue isn’t just about the economy. On pvp servers, people got huge boosts that created a gap that will take many months to close. Now the exploiters are blowing up quest hubs, widening that gap, and the ganking and killing of quest npcs is worse than usual (far worse) because the 60s have no bg’s and not enough pve content.
On top of that, even the ‘low’ population servers look like disneyland, with even lonely zones like Silverpine having upwards of 50 players in it. With layering.
You can see how the problems interact. Blizz created a perfect storm of mess ups.
I hate to say it, but they need to write off the past couple of weeks and start over with twice as many servers (or more) and no layering.
Careful, that much common sense isn’t welcome on these forums.
Bit melodramatic much?
I bet you were logged on while you were typing this.
Yep, there are people like that, but they usually whine about things that don’t matter. The things going on now do matter, and if you can’t see that, I don’t know what to say.
I think there are plenty of legitimate complaints. This isn’t the “authentic” experience we were told about. It isn’t so outrageous that paying customers are disappointed or even upset when they don’t get the product that was promised.
Layering has lead to the current massive exploit in dungeons/raids. layering has done damage and Blizzard has a lot of work to do to repair it.
I don’t believe that statement. Again, I am skeptical with good reason with what they claim they have to do. Like all politicians, Blizzard runs a good campaign on saying “What they have to do”
So NO, I don’t believe they have to remove it and I would be shocked if layering is removed in Phase 2.
Also ever think that the Content plan can change? At no point is the content plan set in stone. It’s called rolling with the punches. If they need to keep layering in phase 2 then they will.
I don’t mind waiting, again I don’t see them lowering caps or increasing Ques. I also don’t see them opening up enough servers to meet the demands of many more players that will start playing Classic in the next phases.
As a long time gamer playing Blizzard games since 2000 history have proven to me that I have no reason to believe the outcome that they claim. I will applaud them if it happens. I just can’t realistically believe it will happen. I would be a fool to ignore history and believe their claim.
That is all honestly.
Well then that’s a you problem, friend.
I didn’t read the rest of the drivel except for this:
No you won’t. You’ll find something else to gripe about.
Abosolutely correct perspective.
How to identify a vanilla player? They believe nothing that blizz says.
People around here are way too naive, or haven’t been paying attention.
It’s not my problem, It’s the truth. Why would I believe that statement? You act like their claims and statements are infallible and prophecy. No it doesn’t have to happen. Not every statement happens. They are hopeful it happens though. Key word “HOPEFUL”
I will applaud them but there is a lot to gripe about, you are correct at that. I mean that is why I quit Retail and other Blizzard games after being lied to countless times. I am hopeful that Classic is the same old lie with a different cover.
The fact that people have no gold has nothing to do with layering. They just don’t have any gold. In fact layering might have put more gold into the economy at this stage than otherwise.
You obviously never played vanilla from the start because people didn’t have 500 GOLD at the start.
You are correct about one thing in your OP though - I will leave it for you to decide what it is.
Rest assured, good citizen, I had naught to do with this post.
I played vanilla in late 2005 throughout 2006 and yes rare items like that on my server were damn EXPENSIVE.
So you didn’t play until the economy was established a year after it was released. Come back a year from now and the economy in classic will be different.
So I guess phase 2 will only happen when server populations are within server capacity so that they can remove layering but I think that more players are going to be joining Classic rather than leaving when phase 2 finally does come.
Tell us your plan on how you would have facilitated a better launch, oh great one. Please explain in explicit detail.
This.
I personally would of launched 50 servers at the start with a 15k population limit with dynamic respawns during name reservation.
No layering.
Players will gravitate towards the “cool” name server and while those fill up to full. Other players who don’t want to sit in que can play on a medium pop server.
I would give players free server transfers off of dead realms after a period of time to establish what the dead realms are exactly.
Hire me Blizzard for your next launch.
