FOMO, lack of quality control, not enough class fantasies (Update #4)

Deciding to slum around on alliance?

I came back from some personal family stuff going on to find out my guild had stopped raiding till DF. Found a casual alliance guild to mess around with while playing casually and they had 6 hunters so playing my mage.

I usually play horde at the end of an expansion to see the other side of the story. There wasn’t one this time.

I prefer horde but all the horde guilds that showed interest times didn’t work or they were a three day guild.

Yeah, nothing wrong with less than 1% of items in the game being limited…you’ll survive. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Is that a realistic number?

I’ll be fine either way. My claim is that this design paradigm by blizzard is poorly chosen, not that their choice hurts me.

Your reply is a non sequitur.

yeah…ofc it is…how many of those FOMO mounts (non-skill related) make up of all items available in the game? it’s less than 1% guaranteed :100:

they’ve always had fomo, so your argument is meh.

Just because they’ve always had it doesn’t mean it is still good nearly 20 years later.

That’s a logical fallacy as well called “appeal to tradition”. FOMO being around for awhile is a historical fact, it is not a point that supports an argument.

all games have FOMO. Sounds to me like you’re the one with the problem?

gl with that, it’s not going anywhere, and no it’s not outdated. you just don’t like it :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

I’m playing total war warhammer, Skyrim, and fallout 4 currently. I see no FOMO in those. Even if it exists, which I haven’t seen proof of, it doesn’t impact me.

It’s also a patently silly statement to say ALL games have FOMO because the existence of even one game without it makes you wrong. You’re trying to prove Too much.

Anywho, I shan’t derail the thread anymore. Apologies.

that’s awesome, i hope you’re having fun in those games. I’m more of an RTS person myself

anyway, FOMO is a great marketing tool that has been proven to work as well. guess you just aren’t going to consider that side of things though, because, like i said, it’s just something you personally don’t like.

Limited time rewards also motivate players - because having cool things matters in any MMORPG…whether you like to hear that or not, it’s true. take a look around you next time you log in - people are often riding on their rarest mounts, and showing off their rarest xmogs…why do you think they do that?

also, FOMO andies aren’t asking for the teldrassil hippogryph back, many of them are asking for old AOTC rewards, CM/Glad rewards, and old questlines to be added back to the game…just because they feel entitled to them.

hard pass on that :eyes:

So we can’t have seasonal rewards that encourage people to play now rather than down the line because some people can’t handle not being able to have everything?

That sounds a little entitled. If you didn’t play in a season and didn’t collect a cosmetic reward associated with that season, so what? Nothing happens. It’s not like not having every mount in your collection is -10% dps or something.

Cosmetic rewards are exactly the type of rewards that should be used for this purpose. When they want to make a reward that is somewhat rare or exclusive. Make it a cosmetic. Because cosmetics don’t impact gameplay. Games with rare things to collect are more fun than games that lack rare collectables.

I’m no FOMO andie, but I do wish they’d keep exclusives to Feats. It just feels weird that some items really are just “you had to be there” items for logging in - never to be seen again. Not like working towards Veilstrider/Faceless One, Gladiator, KSM, etc.

I dunno things like the movie rewards leave a bad taste in my mouth, but I don’t like off-game promotional events in general. Least WoW hasn’t had a deal with Grubhub…

You can have your rewards but not important ones. Please pay attention to the first post, we are not discussing general FOMO rewards but class fantasies.

Removing MOP legendary questline was a mistake

WOD one too

That seems like the most unclear line in the sand I’ve ever seen…
Cosmetics are cosmetics. That’s just all they are.

Not really. But I do not expect a player or developer with no transmogs on his character to understand this. And to be frank, you look like a clown in this outfit.

Did you really just transmog shame someone?

What a troll

They don’t even use a transmog. Check the armor. I never thought I see an Ion Hazzikostas player in the wild nature but they do really exist.

You’re still shaming someone who maybe likes the appearance
