Follower Dungeons, Why Isn't The Healer Coded to Do DPS?

Why is that? In regular dungeons there are some people that want the Healer to do DPS. In Mythic Plus I heard this is almost a requirement. So then wouldn’t it stand to reason that in Follower Dungeons, the NPC healer should also be programmed to do DPS as well as Heal? I dunno the answer? What do you think?

Where did you hear this from, the moon?

Any sensible healer in M+ does DPS when there’s downtime and no one needs healing, all contribution adds to beating the timer.

If they DPS how will they ever get to jump around?

It’s not required however, you can stand around with your finger in your nostril during downtime and still clear most any key.

No one said you were a good healer for doing so or a particularly nice person to be around, but it’s not a requirement.

Also, Wulf thread.

No. Actually in these forums.

They all seem to jump around, jump up and get down, though.

Not anymore you don’t, as it is a myth that it is a requirement. Good play is different from requirement.

It has been the case over the last few years and ongoing.

I think the tank also can’t pull and the healer can’t heal much already. If you’re unlucky dps also won’t do much dps.

It’s not really a great experience overall while sure it’s better than nothing and for people that want to avoid group content at all cost fine I guess.

Would rather they let people queue with an “oddcomp” without the trinity in leveling dungeons moreover when they force you to clear the dungeon to complete a questline. Which is why I’ve used it this expansion because I’d rather not wait when leveling.

I share your sentiments. The only real downside to the follower dungeons is that we get less exp by 25%. If the exp was the same as a regular dungeon, that would be awesome!

I think it’s fine to not really make those efficient, it’s a bit like the single action button. It’s fine that those exist but players shouldn’t feel those are the best way to play or too close to.

To me adding an oddcomp queue would solve having to wait during leveling moreover if they want to keep making it so you have to clear dungeons to progress a questline. Which right now is an advantage already of follower dungeons.

DPSing in downtime is good, but if you’re not yet confident with healing or the damage patterns of a dungeon then I think it’s fine to hold back and learn first. Deaths definitely subtract more time than a healer could add to a run with their DPS.

Healers being expected to heal in dungeons is just an aberration fostered by some of the M+ players due to the timer. But it’s not part of the regular game dungeons. The proof is in the follower dungeon healer only healing and not doing dps. I.e: The NPC Healer is operating as the function is intended in the game.

The proof is in the pudding.

The followers themselves aren’t really coded to do dps, you’re doing the lions share of the damage even on undergeared characters.
If you really wanna try and make this argument, go do the follower dungeon as a healer and time how long it takes if you do damage vs if you only use healing abilities.

All the dps and healer followers are too busy bouncing around, butt pulling everything you didn’t want to pull.
Can we glue the hunters feet to the floor with super glue? I end up pulling everything he will eventually pull from BFE so he doesn’t

Some people think they want the healer to do DPS, and some people assume in higher keys you need the healer to do DPS, but that’s not true.

Once you hit the higher keys, if the healer stops for a second to DPS, even just a single GCD, that may well cost your group a death, a wipe and a reset of the dungeon. Even when you start hitting the M16-18 range and min/max your healers DPS, they may only do like 10-20K at most.

Aside from MW for obvious reasons, other healers can’t even do much DPS, and even MW doing 35-40K overall isn’t anything to write home about. You can even check logs, 10K, 12K, 18K and a lot of deaths with a dungeon reset. Even a disc priest dungeon I found one dude doing only 16K.

It’s just not worth it, you do what you can when you can, it’s not a requirement for a healer to DPS.

I think I remember someone joking about how someone should create a thread complaining about follower healers not dpsing. I’m waiting for wulf to do my request next; do guilds and communities need updating and promoting?

So hunters body pulling the whole room is canon?

I’m just curious, why don’t you make that thread about guilds and communities yourself? You have already made 11,804 posts.
