I don’t care what the design intention was or what it was meant to do. I’m just reporting my experience/observation of this new feature. So far my experience with follower dungeons has been quite underwhelming. Low xp no loot/reward. Not much fun either. Tank and healer never complain about anything even when I do something dumb.
Giving the bots some personality/drama might make it more entertaining.
Joining with 4 other randos is more fun. Failing is more fun. This is just… MEH!
I actually like it… I don’t have to put up with people who are rude, obnoxious, think they’re all of that plus a box of cookies when they’re not. I can stop and take a bio break when I want… there are only positives thus far. Other than for that jumping troll… I didn’t order a jack-in-a-box.
I havent tried ai dgs yet but i can imagine them getting boring quick. I will say for other games i play like dota 2, warcraft 3, age of empires 2, ect, ai versions of content can help ya refamiliarize yourself on how to play or scratch the itch when you wanna do something but are too tired for people. In this respect im glad ai dgs exist even if ill rarely if ever use em. Im sure plenty of players will use them!
WHY did they have to make a shaman alt DPS character if you’re a mage? I’m running solo, and I would rather not have a NPC deciding when to blow my 10 minute timewarp cooldown.
It’s the wows version of a literal safe space.
Edit:
Came off harsh not intended I feel some social interaction help with making relationships but I do understand many of the benefits it can give and I don’t disagree with it’s implementation.
I personally could use it for learning tanking or an unfamiliar specs rotation in practice without looking like a goober.
My experience so far. Attempted to tank one my 68 pally, did the Ruby Life Pools to try it out. The NPC hunter pulled extra mobs and it wiped us twice. Did a LOS pull around a corner. The NPC druid healer got aggro from running through the little dragon eggs and ran off to who knows where and died. All around the DPS was very low. All in all very similar to running with a pug group.
I selected them all and got Brackenhide Hollow, the NPC’s stood in the poison pools, the healer couldn’t keep up and died. So we wiped. I was like… Yep exactly like a pug group!
If this is the case, they might as well cancel it. Blizzard needs to stop punishing pug/soloists. You join a group, you do your part, the others do their part, you get your loot. You join an AI party, you do your part, the AI does their part, you get your loot. But gimped XP and loot apparently.
It’s just dumb. They have the same mentality on the raid finder. I’d be playing retail if they weren’t stuck on this design philosophy. Makes the AI pointless. Please fix it blizzard. This won’t fail due to no one wanting the AI, it will fail due to you making it useless to run with.
